Reivaj - those Bugs are really, really well done !!! I especially like the shape/pose of the strong one. But I think, Mr useless is right: there is no way those front/back parts could match without mirroring correctly. Do you mean that ? Front and Back - horizontally aligned - must be mirrored vertically. Great work !

Bronze Age Sandal Adventuring ? ME ! I wanted to start with a Chaosium Basic RPG playing 1600 BC. For inspiration I recommend the hilarious old school D&D-variant "Mazes and Minotaurs" (please google it, you will not be disappointed !) or the hardcore researched game of John Kirk, "Legendary Quest" (several books of authentic myth and lore). Both game systems are completely FREE ! ghostgirl, your torso/head studies are very elaborate. Really clean style. I hope you'll continue ... .

Hello, back again hackbarth, great set you've done ! This will do in a wide array of situations ... . Tommygun, oh la la ;D. This mechanic should take a shower after repairing her hyperdrive. I would hold her tool in the meantime ... . Well done sexy mini ! Those scientists in virus activity mode are quite surreal and horrific. Oversized heads like in a MTV show (not for kids). I like that. Vermin King, there is still time left . But I cannot promise ... I've finished my Holografic Table Dancer (11 h of worktime ) and will post her very soon.

Yes. I have done my homework ;D. I recognize those weapons as traditional Thri-Kreen-culture. The star blade. You must be an archaeologist of old TSR material ... .

Very, very nice, Reivaj. I was hooked on this masterpiece when I first saw its blank unshaded form on the Hoard. And with colors now: amazing . Very subtle shading. Small skin dots etc. One of the best minis I've seen so far for sure. One suggestion: I've read some Thri-Kreen-lore lately (to learn what you are working on) and there are some kind of double blade weapons mentioned if I got it right - polearms with blades on both ends !? Hardcore D&D guys would love it ... .

. Dryw, YOU are the man to get the spirit back into PnP-roleplay - in a very charming, fairyland way. It's like getting inspired by small symbols and artwork to tell endless stories - not the other way round: imagination of dull game data and tables.

Oh, I am a bit late, gilius ! Yes, I think your trees are much better now. My leaf-brush advice was overkill for sure at this scale, but it's adding up to subtle detail (especially in 300 dpi). Thanks for the brush-link, gilius, I've never used any leaf-brushes, it was just an idea to search ;D. The overall shading of your trees adds alot depth and texture. I like those branches peeking through the green. Seems to be that you are a very diligent follower of advice ;D ... . Also, thanks for your kind sharing .

Parduz, we are the same age. Stone Age ;D. Those bricks under her feet are unintentional, they should be stilettos. I only put them in to get her height right. I understand your preference, parduz, but I for myself WANT BOOTS. Black boots with zippers ... ;D. Well, you don't know what you're asking for I know ... (Oh Lord, have mercy ...) Last comment before I get back. Cheerio !

Parduz: Gosh! You got me, parduz ! It's her Big Hair, I suppose. Yes, I am that old. I find it sometimes hard to escape from the 80ties style-wise. If I ever get this babe done, I'll welcome your sharp eyes to detect any disfunctional limbs, parduz ! gilius: Thanks for the appreciation . Yes, Desdemona has a very similar outfit, though she is more into PulpFictionVamp. eddnic: very cool form and colors ! Did you use some photo-textures of real diamonds ? I could even imagine Kirk fighting such a guardian ... . Ok, guys. I am off for a few days. To entertain you I show you the rest. Some "placeholders" under her feet and still sketchy. She will be all digital blue, of course. Have fun ...

hackbarth: yes, I know them. I've seen YOUR recoloring somewhere on this forum. I admire this flowing old-school ink-pen art. Actually it's very hard to do that - with a real pen or Inkscape simulation doesn't matter. You need a lot of practice in anatomy and you cannot hide any mistakes with such a few lines ... . @reivaj: go for your desire . I am curious how this will turn out ... .

Oh yeah, gilius. That's really nice & neat ! I like the overall shading, this funny face (I have to think of Bart Simpson !?) and especially his glowing display device with those tiny "calculations". I love such details. I thought to do something in a very similar (line-art) style, maybe some musicians or a space bar set, but it's a question of time.

Day 2, 50 views and still no entries - time to change that ;D. What are SciFi-Civilians ? Members of galactic civilizations ? Well, that's everyone, robots and intelligent machines included. Should we exclude Armed Forces ? Military ? Police ? I fetch my beloved "MegaTraveller" Players' Manual and enrich the list of Character Career Types with some brainstorming notes: 1. Army/Marines/Navy armed forces of different species, tech levels and weaponry 2. Barbarian low-tec, brute strength inhabitant 3. Belter/Miner (Gambler) mining for minerals, eg. of asteroids/gas etc. Daredevil, high-risk character 4. Bureaucrat the pale, tall, thin AI-loving guy, laughter is rare 5. Diplomat/Politician smart, chatty, elegant. High-value clothing. 6. Doctor he has seen it all: every tentacle of the universe. He is confident to heal everything with drugs, bots, computers. Sarcastic. 7. Flyer/Pilot he loves his racing vehicle. Serious sportsman. 8. Hunter collecting alien heads, earns fame and money 9. Law Enforcer his eyes would make you silent. Black robe. Majestic. 10. Merchant funny, overweight guy - he always talks to you - and you loose money. Rich, very rich - and he shows (colors). 11. Noble aristocracy is beauty, dignity, money, influence. White, golden, silver, black, blue ... monochrome elegance. 12. Pirate fierce, grinning - his clothing a collection of alien, exotic "things". 13. Rogue the cyberpunked streetfighter. He plays with knives. 14. Sailor high-tec aqua-specialist. Controls entire submarines. 15. Scientist this man is brain. Decent clothing or alternative grunge type. Maybe a selfmade, half-mad engineer of warmachines or clones. Or serious thinker of the unthinkable (enigma of the cosmos). 16. Scout High-tec suit, every gadget prolongs his life on the frontier of the galaxy. Hope this helps, everything as alien or female ;D format possible ... Those are Player Characters/NPCs. What about the guys in the background ? (table dancer, bartender, musician, drug users, I know: Star Wars) EDIT: so dayjob-people ... 1. "little old blue-grey lady with tentacles motoring along on her power scooter" (by verminking) 2. blue hologram of a hot human dancer (it's cheaper, but somewhat defect) 3. multi-arm kraken bartender, serving multiple colorful drinks at once 4. bar-musicians (strange aliens with sparkling high-tec instruments, very slim) 5. drug-smoking huge, muscular alien (with computer-controlled pipe apparatus) 6. insectoid spy in dark robe 7. yelling human police officer in combat suit 8. human anti-riot police squad (heavy protection) 9. alien thugs/punks 10. human wizkid/hacker (mobile micro-computers on his jacket) 11. every imaginable alien bypasser (crawling, flying, jumping, hovering, running, whatever) 12. starship repair squad (human engineers with devices) I stop here. Feel free to expand endlessly ... .

Sometimes mankind reinvents the wheel and does not know it (that happens to me in the last years all the time, knowledge is exploding, everybody knows nothing to little - and I blame the internet for that ... ). As Satrek pointed out: your trees fit the simple, colorful forms of your minis very well. I would prefer some more "grunge" on the wood (fissures) and more contrast to the "head" of tree (leaves in different green shades, you can dot them very easily in with a proper sized leaf-brush in GIMP (search for on the web)). Don't forget some really dark shadows, as trees are usually not completely covered by leaves - you could see some branches. But anyway - that's a matter of taste. And it's 15 mm, so more abstraction of reality is OK. I like your rough Mutant Pistol Hero. Would work also on 15 mm, even 10 mm .

Hello Sirrob, I like your humorous style too. Please, don't be too strict with Reivaj. Give him time to finish his bug characters. I know, that Jim had set up a deadline rule for monthly hoard, but there could be a leeway. We're not dozens of contributers (sadly ), so no need for mass organisation principles ;D. EDIT: one question, Sirrob: my Lich is 300 dpi PNG. I scaled him using Jim Hartman's 30 mm Fantasy Sketch Template. The "labels" under its feet are pure fantasy in regard to any mini-base-scales. Can you work with it as it is, or do I have to change something ?

Hi Reivaj ! I hope you're refreshed to shade/color your flashy Mantids. They will be fine. I've seen your (huge)"Tiamat"-Mini today somewhere, so I've no doubt . Hehe, I am glad you like my boss undead too ... contributing 1 mini per month should be realistic, though the themes are quite different. You could start thinking about tri-legged alien go-go-girls, drunken asteroid miners or starbase ground personal personnel, Reivaj ... ;D

Yes, you're right, chugosh. And I've heard snake charming flute tunes and little boys' laughter instantly. Crazy. That's the best proof, that simple color and forms could be very alife and expressive. I want to lighten this scene with micro-bulbs and flashlights at night as I did with my toys when I was a child, moving the pieces and viewing it from all different angles and distances. Fantastic stuff, Dryw !

I am really happy that you like it, thank you, verminking and Tommygun ! I always tend to end in a more high-detailed, painterly style (this takes time), but I also enjoy the more clear (eye-friendly) "vector"-style of Reivaj and Sirrob. Reivaj's Mantid Warriors are already looking awesome without any further shading tricks. ...inspired by kiladecus' love for the Undead I didn't know kiladecus was into that. I think I exaggerated, but looking at kiladecus' avatar, who knows ... ;D Yes, Tommygun, I want to do some more miniature stuff. Monthly Hoard is a good practice (God bless the founding father Jim Hartman !). I will show my work of the last months very soon (Ruin Tile Set). I am fascinated by the possibilities of gfx software and copyshop printers to enhance roleplaying (or wargaming). I am watching you guys for some time now ;D. Great times.

Hello Cardboard Warriors,
inspired by kiladecus' love for the Undead and afet's definition of NPC, I've worked on this deadly vicious LICH CLERIC. Maybe his red rotten robe is a bit dark, but I imagine him scheming plots in dim catacombs ... ;D
