Okay, I finally got around to cut out and edge my easy-bild repaints. It just seemed logical that the safari Landrover should be yellow with a white top. The Humvee group needed a desert camo. The M113 APC needed a desert version. Dave wasn't best pleased when I posted these on his forum and actually deleted the photo. Oops

I suppose Dave had a right to be 'grumpy'. His dad was in the hospital dying for the last week and passed away yesterday

How big is the penny? And how much did it cost in ink and paper to make?

It's 4 3/4 inches across. My son is a Lincoln fan, so I made one for him that got stepped on. So I did this one for me. As Dave says, 'The BIG Penny, great for making those small models look a little smaller!' You can get it from his Free Model page, davesdesigns.ca/cutandfold/html/free_paper_models.htmlFor my own copy, I Gimped in some extra edge pieces into the available printed space, and made them white to save ink, but that allowed me to make two concentric circles inside it to give a little extra support. I also put aquarium gravel in the center circle to give it a little more weight. For example, here is Zio Prudenzio's original Red Baron and Mike Hungerford's Snoopy Fighting Ace Mike Hungerford's page is www.chthulhu.com/models.htmlZio's page has unfortunately gone down

Now, I am sure that Dave didn't know that the Hoard theme for this month applied so much to his latest model, but you have to admit that you want one, right? Actually, if you include salt flats, his new batch of Land Speed Record vehicles could also fit.

Ouched, I've been neglecting this thread, but with the Blade Runner Spinner posted, I thought it needed mention He also posted this movie shot, showing how the crane hoist is still visible in the movie Since the model has no flying base, I used that photo and cobbled together a quick base Well, nevermind, since PostImage is being its stupid self again.

Well, time has been limited, but I really wanted to do the Spinner. So after my last post I enlarged the model by 10% and printed it. Yes, even enlarged, there are quite a few fiddly bits. There is also an overlapping connection underneath that is a bit tricky. I didn't realize until I'd connected the center to form a ring that I should have left the final connection of the ring until the end, so that you can adjust the sitting of the wheels. I'm not planning on doing another, though

Fantastic. That light bar looks like a fiddly build, but it really turned out great!

For Dave's models, they are typically about 1/64. Enlarging this one by 10% makes it seem slightly large for 28mm - 30mm. On the other hand, it isn't a small vehicle. He considers this to be an advanced model due to the small parts. But this is certainly my favorite of the Spinner models. Not over-simplified to the point of mockery, but also not so detailed that it takes forever to build. Captured the feel of the vehicle well.
If you build it, I would recommend enlarging it. On the first light bar, I cut out the area beneath the light bar and between the legs before folding. Score, crease, and then cut that area out, otherwise getting the folds right is difficult.
It had been a while since I just sat down to build a model, and the anniversary of the movie was all the excuse I needed. I'd recommend the model highly

Well, Dave is color blind, somewhat, and often gets his colors by picking them out of source photos, or in this case, cartoons. This limited edition Teal and Yellow Mystery Machine is no longer available, having been switched out to the Teal and Green.

Dave has been doing a series of tutorials to help folks with technique, and understanding how he designs his models. First tutorial was on the Mystery Machine, the second on the Bluebird CN7. Now he is doing one on the newly revamped Batman Tumbler. Here's where I'm at (I was out of town over the weekend) My new Sharpie is ticking me off. Excessive bleed, but then it fades and I have to hit again. The backside of the wings is supposed to be darkened before cutting out, so I gave it a couple swipes of black acrylic paint instead ... at least it didn't bleed through

Almost caught up on the tutorial. Wings curled and placed, but Dave posted the next step ... the front wheels

Blast it all anyway ... we get down to finishing his updated Tumbler, and he comes out with one that is even more awesome. Gotta build it, too, now

Ouched, I've been neglecting this thread, but with the Blade Runner Spinner posted, I thought it needed mention I have been totally unable to find this model. Where does it live? Can someone please provide we with a direct link to a download or a store? Thank you!

He actually had Lady Penelope's vehicle there as well. The Thunderbirds would make really nice models as well IMHO. I'm torn between this one, and Captain Nemo's vehicle to place in my Shellendrak/Zombie Manor as eye candy.
