The theme for this months HOARD is Robots, Cyborgs and Droids
This can be any sort of Robotic miniature or feel free to submit miniatures off theme.
If you submit a figure, they must include both front and rear art, have a proper trimming outline, and include instructions for multi-part models. Recolors and figure mods are encouraged, and even uncolored designs are welcome.
No nudity or sexuality, but bloody gory and horrifying is encouraged.
If you have questions about how to design your figures, like formats, resolution, and stuff like that, see the HOARD GUIDELINES in this forum category.

It's still a work in progress. I need to work on the blood and a few tweaks. Imaging a cross between a bear trap and a landmine , that can chase you down. If you have seen the movie, you know how bad they are.

OK! Here's the deal... I have actually considered posting some artwork for this Horde, and I have REALLY been debating it. I have done some sketches, however, after seeing all of the artwork on this site, I realize that I would be a FOOL to even consider having any of my stuff chosen. SO, I am going to post these before I reconsider... There are a couple ground rules that I ask BEFORE I post these...: - NO ONE makes a comment about mid-drifts, adn whatnot.
- These are just sketches, so, Parduz, my friend, please don't offer suggestions about foreshortening, mis-alignment nor proportional concerns... these are just SKETCHES.
- And, if you think they "suck" please offer valid reasons, other than "they just do."
I realize being one of the most hated posters (if not THE most hated) I am REALLY opening myself up to severe criticism. Ok, with that said, here are some of my sketches. IF anyone would see potential in ANY of these images, I might be inclined to do a final version and submit it. If it doesn't get chosen, then at least I could say I tried... Here goes... This is a robot that works as a mobile rocket launcher... I also have a couple others here...

This is my standard K'Vyk soldier (more "Alien" than cyborg, but it can be both...)

Here is my PSI-BORG. That's right, a cyborg with Mental Powers. He also carries heavy weapons (like this heavy flamer) and his "Jaws-of- Life... er, Death."

Ok, my final sketch is a robot riding a mutant dinosaur (called a "Bashiik"). Let me know if any of these would interest anyone. Time is running out, and since Tommygun has brought his A-Game, I need to step these up a little... Make that a "LOT!" Thank you for your attention...

Nice sketches. Since they don't have the 'flat' perspective of most paper minis, it might be hard to convert them to front/back but I'd say it's a good start.

WOW! Thanks, Nik. That means a LOT coming from you! I started a project a couple months ago where I was designing figures with removeable arms, where the arms would slip over a tab and you could change arms, allowing for games where a character might find various weapons while playing, and you could change your figure to match the character. He finds a sub-machine gun, pull off the arm tht has nothing, now he is holding the SMG! Ok, here are a couple of my prototypes. I have already received good feedback on these, but haven't had time to "fix" them... They need wider torsos/waists, thicker belts and so forth... OH! And, ARMS, of course!

These are good. I think the first one could be a mini with very few revisions. Wait, on second look... The PSI-Borg could be one if you flatten out his feet. Otherwise, he's ready to color.
The only criticism I have is some of the proportions are a little off, but not in a major way. You've even already mentioned that. (I have lots of trouble with that too.) Plus, some of those are in more dynamic poses, so you have perspective to deal with.
Overall, they DO NOT suck. I think the designs/visions of them you have are pretty creative and cool. I also think it'd be a shame if you didn't proceed to work on ALL of em, and whatever else you can dream up.

Here kiladecus, let's create you your own project area so you can discuss what you are developing there. Maybe then sirrob won't have quite so much to go over when compiling the HOARD. EDIT: I'd better create one for revgunn too while I'm thinking about it.

Hi Kiladecus,
First, I don't really think anyone here on the forum "hates" you. I certainly don't. People may disagree with you on some issues, but that doesn't mean they hate you.
Second, I never thought my stuff was good enought to post either. I was pushed into it by my wife. I knew my stuff was far from perfect, so I ended up calling them Imperfect People. Still, as my wife keeps pointing out, they are less than an inch and a half tall, and on the gaming table no one cares about the little imperfections.
Third, any "bare midriff" comments (like I left at Ken's 15mm Dwarven project (about Dwarven Gold Diggers) were meant to be humorous and not hurtful.
Fourth, your stuff does not "suck." Other than making the feet flat to mount on bases, these are a perfectly good set of sketches that can be turned into perfectly good pieces. I always enjoy checking out the artwork and projects of others, even in genres I am not currently playing or involved in. The more the merrier, so welcome to posting on the forum, and I hope to see more from you.

WOW! Thanks for the positive feedback, and for the THREAD, Nik! (VERY HAPPY... NOW I just need to be able to have something worthy of posting on it..). BTW, I have decided to do the PSI-BORG, and I am working on getting SOMETHING together to submit... more than likely my submission will be B&W, as I am not only NOT an artist, but have virtually NO texturing skills... (and I can't type the word "AND" - see ANY other post... )!

Yeah. What those guys said.
Next... just go read the designing figures stuff. If you drew those sketches, you are just as much an artist as anyone. The drawing itself is the hard part.

Dude you are okay. Dont worry about stuff not being perfect. I posted a giant squid in one of the old mmip's and it was bad. Flat, no depth, not much detail and not much color either. I was worried about it but noone else was. Just enjoy what you do. NOONE is perfect, we all have something we can improve on. Have fun. Those sketches look great!

I'm liking the sketches, wish my drawing/sketching was even a fraction of the way towards to were you are at . I'm still working up Novembers hoard and I'm hoping to have it done tomorrow, but don't let that stop people putting stuff in, if you draw it and submit it I'll lay out and put it all together . Is anyone else getting all there time eaten up by xmas parties at the moment?
