Just for the sake of completeness ... Maybe Modern Warfare is even less popular than WW2 ?!

I am contemplaiting a new testcase as Monthly Hoard is really a research lab for me.
multiple-body-parts-technique (template-combining) + special texture treatment -> full pseudohistorical modern warfare squad

Ork insurgents on the way I get to use my ork vectors and draw some modern weapons. If an orC is fantasy, and an orK is sci-fi, are modern ones orgs? ('cos g is between C and K in the alphabet)

Found an old project; Here's where I am with it; Needs wheels, turret hatches, back doors, and a test-build. Might just make the deadline.

I definitely like it. And it has round tires!!!
On the gun, will that be straight 2d, laminated 2d, 2.5 or 3d?
It doesn't matter. I like this.

I was thinking like "0"d...guns hadn't even crossed my mind as I was planning on attaching Ebbles weaponry to it. edit-> Oh, the tires aren't really round; they're half rounds. They're designed to sit beneath the chassis like the vehicles you see from WWG. Originally this project was for 15mm scale so the tires were just going to be 2d add-ons.

Nice, Squirmy. Simple, quick--elegant.

half-rounds with a full face laminated on is great. I don't fancy doing wheel wells, axles and suspension like the 'modelers' do.
I also use Ebbles weaponry ... A LOT.
Nice little project. Thanks

I printed it out and it looks a bit dark, I'll do my test-build tomorrow.

Finished build with additional Ebbles labs kit from the Patrol set. Working on instructions now, might make a reinforcer box to go inside the model. Once it got enlarged it lost some of it's strength.

Squirmydad,
Just my 2 cents, but I think this would look better if some of the black outlines were actually brown or maybe lust let the texture end without an outline. YMMV

I'm actually in the process of re-working it a bit. The big brown fold lines are one of the things that's being re-done. This started as a 15mm scale model...3-1/2 years ago. I've learned a few things since then.

will there be a new subframe for this to go along with the full 3d tires that are already in the pdf?

will there be a new subframe for this to go along with the full 3d tires that are already in the pdf? That's the idea. Like I said before; this was a model project intended for 15mm scale that I worked on 3.5 years ago. At 15mm scale it had enough structural integrity that the hull could be all one piece and it was fine. Once I 'ballooned' it up to biggie scale it started to feel kind of weak. I made structural support blocks to fit inside the current version to give it some strength, but I'm also making a new version that will use the 3D tires on a separate top and bottom section. This also lines me up for the next project/expansion which is the JGSDF Type 87 Recon vehicle. I mislabeled the Type 82 as a Recon vehicle when it is actually a Command version, that's why it has that raised stern section. The type 87 is very similar but has a flat top with a light turret in the center. I'm trying to keep my projects in small chunks that I can actually complete as I have a tendency to overwhelm myself with the scope of my projects. I need to start my own thread about this stuff.

Thanks, Squirmydad! I built it and used your antenna array from your Recon Hover on it. It looks GREAT built. My only thing is for an APC, it should have a bigger door on it. As it stands right now, the figures would have to crawl through the rear hatch on their bellies. A larger door would double as a ramp to load and off-load troops. Also, I have a knack for seeing things in different ways. I was looking at the basic shape of the vehicle, and I noticed that the actual shape of the thing could have a different skin, and if the rear became the nose, it could be a crash truck, firetruck or a different war machine. Simply put, the rear tires would now be the FRONT tires. Make your back the windshield. I bet now that you read this, you won't look at it the same again! Too bad I am no good at textures, or I might take a stab at it.

Actually it's not an APC, it's a high mobility field command vehicle. Getting in and out in a hurry, aka a rapid deployment, isn't crucial with this vehicle. Besides, it's in scale. Are you thinking kind of like Glenn's Da'Boss truck?

Well, whatever works. I was looking at it again today and I see there is another part of the door on the lower back side of the model. I realize this is a Mobile HQ, and I am loving it. I just meant for the APC you might want the door/hatch a little larger. That's all. I just guess we are used to seeing things like this on the game table (and seem to forget what they are like in real life).

I know we're almost in the middle of september but I finally had some time to come back to the howitzer model. I'll start a development thread in my sub-forum and post the final result here.

;D At least Squirmydad saved the August Hoard ... . Great model with easy assemblage. You could do a whole battalion in no time. Squirmydad, what do you think of multiple part turrets/modifications. Like a tank factory? Well, I opened this thread. But my project idea died a gruesome death in priority chaos ... .
