Thanks okumarts for the glimpse on the main mechanics. I am a passionate player of dungeon crawlers and I have to say I am really pleased by what you are putting on the table I still have some questions, though. I hope they can make me understand better and give you some hints to write clearer rules (if you feel it is necessary, of course ) I'm not asking about things hinted in this preview but not explained. I take for granted that the LoS cited in the On Guard section will be explained in the complete version, for example. Running: - Maybe it's kind of implied, but I ask for the sake of clarity: the second consecutive GT in which a figure runs, the Ability check is Basic, right? Combat: - Maybe the first two paragraphs would be more appropriate in the Activation section. - Can I move, attack and move again if I have enough AP? - Let's say I have 3 AP: during my GT do I get to make a single attack (or two at a -1) or can I make (for example) 3 different attacks at a -1? Target Choice This usually means the closest target. If they need to make a tactical decision to attack other figures they must first pass a Basic (6) Ability Check. So I take it that if I am adjacent to a Goblin and I have an Orc 3 squares away, I can freely attack the Goblin, but I need to pass a Check to attack the Orc. What if they are both adjacent to me? How I determine the most obvious threatening? If they are a Gob and an Orc I may assume it's the Orc (maybe using the Threat Level?), but what if they are 2 Orcs? HTH Combat - If more than two figures are attacking one target there is a +1 on the attack and defense die rolls for each extra figure attacking up to a maximum +3 attack or defensive bonus. For figures is it sufficient to be adjacent to say they "are attacking"? - I understand the Attack/Defense rolls is 1D6+Ability. Page 5 says I should add the HTH Modifier, too. Which one is correct? If it is the latter, do I always apply the modifier? Do I apply it if I am defending? Wounded/Walking Wounded If a player makes a successful Difficult Ability Check (9) after losing the last Health Point they are considered “Walking Wounded” and all rolls for this figure are at a -1. This effect is cumulative. How the effect is cumulative? -1 for every Health Point below 0? Do I have to repeat the check? Critical Hits - 2x damage: when the multiplier is applied? Before or after subtracting Armor (in case there's any)? Counter Attacks - Figures have a limited amount of Counter Attacks during a single GT. Do they count only if a hit occurs? Wildcard Effects - I'm not sure I understand. If I am the active player, a double 1 means the negative effect is for me, a double 6 is a negative effect for the opposing side. Any 2-5 double means we have to roll to see who gets the short end of the stick. Am I right? On Guard - If a target makes himself apparent. Does it mean that if I already see him I cannot target him? Hero Points - It seems implied, but: can I use a Hero Point after I rolled the dice? In general I have to say these rules as presented here would benefit from a better organization, but I understand this is just a sneak peek and I repeat myself: the content seems oh, so good More general questions: - How does the overall game play? Is there a story to follow? If so, how much does it counts on the game? - You say that it can be play cooperatively and solo, so I guess there's no need for a DM. The competitive mode means the DM is introduced or that characters fight each other? - Is the dungeon predetermined by a scenario or randomly created? In the latter, how? - What is exactly the Extended Campaign Mode? - How will spells and magic work? (If there are any) Hm, maybe that's enough questions for now. I hope it shows it's the enthusiasm that moves me

Backed that As promised. Would you design a modern or sci-fi mini too, if I backed the 100$ tier or is this strictly for custom fantasy characters?

Ok we have reached 3k stretch goal. So there are 4 dragon figures with their compatible cards. I can't understand why such a great project moves slowly ( in my opinion, of course ). Imho probably some Anne's remarks should be considered. No criticism by me. Peace!

Also, see how very quickly things have changed with the Lord Zsezse Elven Towers KS in just the past few days. There were several lesser "jumps" in support for that project earlier too, so I think it's too soon to judge with this one.

Most kickstarters that go for a month or longer tend to slow down somewhat after the first 48 - 72 hours, when the initial rush of pledgers get done. They usually pick up strong in the last 48 - 72 hours when reminders go out. Also remember that the Elven kickstarter is still going on until 2:43 today. After that we should get some more backers. This kickstarter is going fine. It may not be blasting through the stratosphere, but it is doing what most kickstarters do. $3000 is a good total so far. We'll pick up some along the way. As long as its gaining some everyday, there's no worries!

Running: - Maybe it's kind of implied, but I ask for the sake of clarity: the second consecutive GT in which a figure runs, the Ability check is Basic, right? Yes, anytime it says make and Ability Check it is considering it to be a Basic Target of 6. Yes you can move, attack and move again. Very helpful for archers. It's not covered in the skirmish preview, but you can make a maximum number of attacks equal to your Ability Stat. If they are both adjacent attacking the Highest Threat Level is the default. 2 Orcs? Your call. Yep, if they are lined up beside the figure and attacking they gain a +1 per figure up to +3. If there is a HTH modifier, usually a Talent or situational modifier, it is added to the 1d6+Ability. The effect is cumulative in the sense that if you are hit again you have to make another roll. Critical Hits - 2x damage: when the multiplier is applied? Before or after subtracting Armor (in case there's any)? Before Armour. Counter Attacks - Figures have a limited amount of Counter Attacks during a single GT. Do they count only if a hit occurs? That's right. Wildcard Effects - I'm not sure I understand. If I am the active player, a double 1 means the negative effect is for me, a double 6 is a negative effect for the opposing side. Any 2-5 double means we have to roll to see who gets the short end of the stick. Am I right? Correct. On Guard - If a target makes himself apparent. Does it mean that if I already see him I cannot target him? If the target steps into view of an archer or if they come into HtH range. Hero Points - It seems implied, but: can I use a Hero Point after I rolled the dice? Yep. In general I have to say these rules as presented here would benefit from a better organization, but I understand this is just a sneak peek and I repeat myself: the content seems oh, so good Thanks. It's a bit of a cut and paste from various sources so that's why it's a bit jumbled. I just wanted to get the basics of the game out into the world. More general questions: - How does the overall game play? Is there a story to follow? If so, how much does it counts on the game? - You say that it can be play cooperatively and solo, so I guess there's no need for a DM. The competitive mode means the DM is introduced or that characters fight each other? - Is the dungeon predetermined by a scenario or randomly created? In the latter, how? - What is exactly the Extended Campaign Mode? - How will spells and magic work? (If there are any) Hm, maybe that's enough questions for now. I hope it shows it's the enthusiasm that moves me The overall game in the basic form is a random tile flip game. There are rules for dungeon diving motivations or reasons in the scenario section, but they are optional rules. There is no DM is the game unless needed. The fighting character thing is monitored by the other players like fighting monsters, etc. Extended Campaign Mode allows for experience and multiple dungeon delves with recurring characters and role playing. It's basically the RPG of the board game. Spells and Magic are based on the Power of the character and are usually done as cards (like Talents). Some characters have specific spells. Sorry for the delay in the reply. I hope that helps. David

Okay guys! New blog post up showcasing the skirmish set and Wandering Monster with several pics. Since Anne posted a pic, I probably should too. Darkfast Dungeons Skirmish Set BlogGood times! Your minis, pics, and post look great - and it looks like I barely beat you to the punch! Your pics also highlight a problem I have with my laser printer - everything comes out way too dark. In fact, there are some things I won't even bother printing and using now, since they come out almost unusable. I think bravesirkevin said he had the same printer as me, but I don't recall him having a problem with it. I need to solve that problem ASAP, as I've got too many things (this skirmish set particularly) that I don't want to have to fuss with or reprint later down the line...

What a marvellous monster! I wonder if we now need a carnivorous shrubbery to go with the Dread Gazebo It was fatdragontom's 3D version from the Ravenfell Kickstarter (my idea, of course ) that made me suggest The Garden of Doom! forum hoard theme. But alas, with everything going on, I've not been doing any mini or model building, much less designing, this last little while.

First Combat report posted for the Free Skirmish set. /posts/911930 Excellent! It's a whole lot easier (and a lot more fun) seeing it like this, than in the regular rule book... Would you consider doing the rulebook more like this? With a vanilla "cheat sheet"?

You can count on it! Great idea Anne! I very much second this Being a complete newbie to dungeon crawling I found your illustrated instruction sheets to be be really excellent. I can assure you that there are rulesets out there that are downright confusing, but after following each one of your pictures step by step I could very clearly understand exactly how the rules worked and what had happened at each stage of the encounter. I'm really looking forward to when Darkfast Dungeons will be released and when I can play it for real.
