The theme for this month's HOARD is  Beyond the Black Nebula This can be any sort of miniature figure or model on the above theme or feel free to submit miniatures off theme. If you submit a figure, they must include both front and rear art, have a proper trimming outline, and include instructions for multi-part models. Recolors and figure mods are encouraged, and even uncolored designs are welcome. No nudity or sexuality, but bloody gory and horrifying is encouraged. If you have questions about how to design your entries, like formats, resolution, and stuff like that, see the HOARD GUIDELINES in this forum category. Entries for the Hoard will be accepted until the last day of October, 2017. Dangit! I always like Sci Fi Hoards, but I'm not sure if I have time to do much this month. Tried to do a quick project last month, and you can see where that went. Discipline, Grasshopper. This is one that I'd shelved a few ideas waiting for a Sci Fi Hoard, maybe one of those can be done quickly. Space ships, astronauts, colony bases, power units, ground vehicles, unusual creatures, extra-dimensional nano-infused hyper-intelligent reptiloid kangaroo men, alien ramen shop, etc., etc. I hope everyone is excited about this one |

Since most of the hard work is done for the moment, I might find the time to mod up some cadets, an instructor and the model of a Danube class runabout...  Or I'll continue work on my Borg mod...  |

Damn, I don't have a Runabout to mod...  Looks like it's gonna be a Type-6 shuttle. EDIT: A little preview... ...btw. the instructor is called Phasa Teller.  Another EDIT: Doing some research, I found out that the coloured shoulder part actually designates the department track the cadet is heading along. So, I modified the colours. Moe Difius is still red, Lug is yellow, and D'Cypha is blue. |

Okay, by now you all should know that I am a bit 'quirky'. I started repainting the Harvard House in metal panels and bright blue girders, with hatches for doors and space-y windows. The chimney becomes a telecommunications array. But I'm not happy with it.
Maybe it is time to go back and turn the Mitsubishi Canter Eco-D dumptruck into a transport

On the food 'truck', I'm leaning away from the Fuso Eco-D, and towards gilius's transport, cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/thread/4487/transport-shipThree options: 1) gilius's transport 2) Fuso Eco-D 3) Super-shoddy food truck with wings and thrusters I think they all have merit Option 4, Gus's Galaxy Grill from Spaceballs  EDIT-- or a kitbash of the transport and a ratty old food truck. Hmmm |

I'm actually proceeding on the kitbash option. Fusing the Food Truck body to the transport body is proving a little more difficult than I anticipated. Mostly because I am trying to keep this on three pages. It's been fun collecting images. If you remember the front glass from the UPS transport, I think it is too 'stylish' for a space food truck transport.
I keep running across various images of ramen delivery truck accidents. 'Insurance investigators declare total loss on contents -- $38.50'

Now that turned out nice. You could have added thin struts between the wings and the sides of the truck, giving the wings even more the look of little roofs above the sales windows. |

I'd thought about that, and still might if I get around to doing the engine/thrusters.
Part of picking the Rising Sun flag for the wings was that it looks like awnings. That, and that it is a ramen truck

This would have been far more appropriate for last month's Hoard, but here it is anyway. The Invisible Man:  I started off with one of okumarts' Romulans from Where No Man Has Gone Before and simply removed the interior. It can be left white or have the center trimmed out. Or, just the tab for the fully invisible look. I might still do a space squid mod... Barbarabarbrabarborough needs a standee as well. |

Hmmm I just realized my stretched historic tweetsie passenger car, cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/post/86123, really resembles Gus's Galaxy Grill ... Double Hmmm I think that if I split out the ends and roof pieces, enlarging them by the same percent, then shorten the ends to match the height of the sides, this could yield the wider shape of the Diner/Grill. Food trucks and diners, what's wrong with me? |
