Is it possible to have the Prev and Next buttons at bottom of the page?
When you have a thread with lots of replies, it can be quite annoying to have to scroll to the top of the page to go to the next page. With a proper keyboard, you can just press Home, but when using the site with a mobile device such as a tablet, it is not possible.

Neat! I have some old Ral Partha figures knocking about, from my D&D days in the '80s. I would love to find them, except they're about 2000 km away...

Sweet, looks like it'd be really sturdy too. It should be, it's about 6 mm thick. Turns out, it's a bit too big for 15 mm. Now worries, I have plenty more of them.

About 6 a.m **., I had a quiet moment at work. I had just finished packing up a delivery and had to change the packaging tape roll, leaving a nice sturdy cardboard roll: So... I thought " Ah, bollocks, no-ones around for a while..." Found some nice free-to-download textures. Tiled them up to almost fill an A4 label sheet. Printed them up: Et voila! One simple fortification! It's not so much a tower, rather a round wall, filled with earth and given a floor. I just need a little ladder or earthen ramp. I guess it can be used with 15 or 28/30 mm. Now I have quite a few of these cardboard rolls at home. If I knocked up some low wall sections, it would make a nice "Hadrians wall" style border fortification. ** The peace and planned work was soon shattered with three different people saying something along the lines of " Roooob! I need this now!"

So, if you had a Tesla car and it was stolen. Would it called an Edison?

Good for you! I'm still trying to work out where 2019 went. Just about every project I planned back in Jan 19, never happened...
Maybe in 2020

Apart from making money, I can sort of see some logic in the rule. The price of GW figures and models is generally based on the items in-game points value. Last time I looked ( a couple of years back), basic figures usually worked out to be about a Euro to a couple of Euros per figure: EUR 8,00 would buy you a box of 3x Space/Chaos Marines, or 5x Imperial Guard, or some small Tyranids. Bigger, higher point value figures, such as Terminator Marines, specific characters and so on, cost more. This stops people fielding ridiculously powerful figures too easily. But, it is pay to play, much like a lot of online games now. But, there are those who would probably consider it unfair that they have just spent, like, a hundred Euros or so, on some tank, when someone comes along with a paper/card model of the same item, which has probably cost less than a tenner... (Also, no profit for GW, either) Last year, I sold all of my plastic SciFi & Fantasy figures, specifically to steer myself away from eyeing up over-priced models and figures Nearly all of my stuff now is paper/card. Except my Flames of War tanks - they are plastic. Only until I can neatly build 1/100 th scale tanks, that is...

One would have to be insane NOT to play on the same table! Sadly, there are quite a few GW snobs out there... Is this frowned upon in warhammer? I don't think you can play in tournaments with non-GW figures or models. Also, it used to be, at least, that you had to have the exact model for the unit played, down to the weapon - for example, If you unit was a Space Marine with Power Claw, the model had to be a Space Marine with Power Claw. Now, they allow a certain amount of "proxy" figures.

Most definately! Thanks for the link. The wooden church alone would do both the Flames of war and fantasy wargaming. Since I have both at 15mm, one model will do both I saw they have some figures that would do for Novgorod era type setting.

alloydog, they make fantastic round castle towers. They also have decent heft, and they're extremely strong! They are also easy to overlay with textures... Cheers! They also make the Mrs ask why hell do we have loads of cardboard cartons lying around the house!

Although at work, we get lots of scrap card, it is mainly packing/shipping boxes, so is too thick and rough (which has been used to describe me as well...) to use.
However, because we use packing tape and that clingfilm stuff, I have a nice stockpile of cardboard tubes.

I talked to her yesterday to make sure this hosting was okay, and it is, but she no longer does papermini/papermodel work as she has trouble holding sharp objects. Does she still keep up artwork though? I do know what it is like to lose the ability to do something you really loved doing. I also used to paint on leather jackets and the occasional picture on bikers cut-off denim jackets, but I really don't think I could do that any more.

That's a real shame. What would I do if this were taken away from me? Something... I used to really be into plastic scale models and figures, but after a long break, I tried to get back into the hobby, but found I just couldn't handle fine paintbrushes, due to poor close-up eyesight. It would take some time to get used to working with a magnifying glass. Plus, the price rise of plastic models has easily outstripped inflation! That's why I got into paper minis and models. This forum itself was literally a god-send to me.

I tried that years ago, but I think I didn't get good adhesion because the started pealing. Do you use a roller or weight to get it to adhere well? I just rub my finger over the label paper to press it down. Never had a problem with the printed label stuff coming off.

I use label paper, either A4 or 2x A5. But I then stick them to card, such as cereal box packaging. I then score the fold line with a knife, then fold and glue. The figures come out about 1 to 1,5 mm thick. I have tried thicker card, even the real thick stuff you get at the back off notepad, which is about 2 to 3 mm thick, but I fond it too thick to cut around the figures neatly.

It is a beautiful and relaxing Sunday morning on the happy Soviet Collective farm, when the peace and tranquillity is disturbed by a couple evil fascist panzers: Despite the Brave heroes of Soviet Union rushing in, the fascist invader quickly takes first blood, knocking out the T-34. The Heroic crew of the Valentine, fight on, knowing their puny 2 pdr shells will just bounce off of the Panzer IV's armour like peanuts off of an elephants arse. Both sides are oblivious to the horror that lurks below the table, though ... Finally destroying the Panzer IV, the KV1 is dealt a stunning blow from the hidden Panzer III and saying "Пиздец" to the " Not one step back!" order, the crew bale-out. We called it a day for that one.

Buuuut... in the mean-time, I thought I'd do something similar to the Battlefield In A Box ~ Eastern FrontHere we have Der Commissar's offices: Once again, it's Dave's Longhouse, but the roof I scratch built from a metallic effect wallpaper (It's great for modelling, but would look awful on the walls!)

I think I found the solution to the hundreds of broken image links from postimage- I used the nanny function to make a new censored word that gets replaced by postimg.cc, seems to have fixed the issue. Much better than working through hundreds of posts. Excellent! Have a nice shiny gold star!

Interesting! Build method too. That's pretty much how I make my models. But I hadn't thought of using hot glue! I have a couple of the guns lying around. I always use PVA glue, which takes ages to dry and can make the card soft while drying. Next time, I'll give the hot glue gun a whirl.

That's really cool. Now, if you got a load of very small LEDs, knocked up a few circuits that fluctuate the current, so lights flicker, and some under-scenery wiring, you could put lanterns/candles on the graves. Then, turn down the lights for the gaming session... In Finland, every "All Saints' day" (the Saturday after Halloween), people put candles on the graves of deceased family members. (Image from Kaleva newspaper)With the evenings being dark quite early at this time of year, it's quite spooky, but beautiful. The above is a photo from the local newspaper from a previous year. This year, we have a lot of snow already and it really is beautiful but eerie in its own way.
