My friend picked it up, and a group of 5 of us played it on Saturday. We finished the first group scenario without too much difficulty. We were close to having someone die near the end, but if I remember right, we were able to get through without using one of those hero rez token thingies.
All in all, the game could use some more depth, but it was fun and simple. I think the ranger's auto hitting attack is a tad overpowered, considering most of the monsters have only 1 hp, but that's another matter. Also, for some reason, our copy was missing its d20...

I'm visiting an old friend out in Brentwood, NY. Since San Diego is practically deprived of game stores, I was hoping if anyone knew of good ones in the Long Island area that I could check out when I head there hopefully in October.

Assuming I got the hoard numbers right, the link for Hoard 84 just pulls up the jpeg for it, and Hoard 77 is super super SUPER blurry

You're looking at it entirely upside-down. It's not that the bases on the monsters were too large, it was the squares and field that were too small. Dryw the Harper ;D imagine the board size at the "correct" scale

Thanks GOR and Enpeze, Those are some interesting ideas. Hopefully I'll be able to work some of those in here or there. Though you can't really just do one or two figures for a bloodbowl team. I think there are supposed to be 9 per team or so... Usually 11 on the field at a time, but depending on the team there's really only 2 to 6 different units per team. GW provides updated rules free of charge on their websitem so here's the link for those interested: www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m780049a_Blood_Bowl_Competition_Rules.pdf. Page 45 has the team rosters (the table of contents is a lie!). The only other thing though is every unit is susposed to be in one square, including the treefolk, ogres, minotaurs and the like. Even the official minis used large bases on some of them just to be annoying.

Hey jabbro. I got a request for ya. How about some high fantasy themed football minis for blood bowl? It's hard to even get appropiate plastic or metal minis for it.

Seems like a great idea, as long as no one is using metal dice. My friend's got a glass dining table we use for our gaming, but every time my steel dice hit it too hard, we freak. Also I noticed that the glass is so hard that it will cause the points on my dice to flatten out, even when rolling on top of my friends chessex grid matt.
This does seem like a great way of doing a game table though!

I know, but the model is a bit big from what I remember, and I am too lazy to extract, edit, and then bundle together with other models to save on print costs.

I just wanted to say that I printed a bunch of your stuff out via FedEx, and I am an instant fan! The goliath in adventurers set 5 is perfect for my current 4e dnd character (tehcnically my char is a bugbear, but a tall inhuman thing with a big hammer is a pretty close depiction otherwise).

I did try out their service, and though it is a bit expensive with large jobs, small jobs might be worth it. Fedex's definition of 110lb cardstock and a manufacturers definition seem to be totally different as it seems to be a heavier material (though could just be higher quality material), and the color was almost as bright and rich as when I print on matte photo paper from home.
I may consider doing more in the future as most jobs only take a couple hours to print.

Have any of you guys ever used molds from www.hirstarts.com? I have been pondering them for a while now for making some nice looking dungeon tiles. I've been playing a lot of Descent with some friends, and thought it would be great to make a tile set from the molds for the game (they have instructions for how to do at least the base tile set from only 2 different molds). I'm just curious on people's past experiences or opinions on this.

Has anyone ever considered using Fedex Office as an option for printing? Since I am bone dry on ink, and on a tight budget at the moment, I've been looking it over, and it seems to be only like a buck and change for per letter size 110lb cardstock color printout in their customize option on the website. I'm thinking of giving it a shot.

Well it seems that I have been away from this too long. Either my personal life, work, or both has kept me from the hobby I love for too long. I just got caught up with getting all of Onemonk's releases, and after some spring cleaning in a couple weeks I should have space required again for cutting. Hopefully I can get back to plowing through figures like I was before.
I totally support Onemonk's move to go to free distribution, as that should bring in hopefully many more to this genre.
By the way, the few here who remember me may have already guessed it, but my new favorite set by far is Hoard #39!!

Hi, everyone! I know I haven't been around for a while, but I just wanted to make a quick post stating that I am still alive and kicking. It seems as soon as my life was back in order and I could put more time and money into my hobbies, Existence decided to kick sand in my face and steal my girl, metaphorically speaking. I got in a 3 car fender bender, with my car in the middle and of course got the most damage. I was stopped in traffic and the car behind me didn't stop in time and shoved me into the big SUV in front of me at jsut the right angle to destroy my right headlight assembly and crumple stuff up in that area (the SUV only got a minor scratch on the bumper and the car behind me only got a turn signal knocked loose). Of course, we had recently changed insurance providers and haven't had the chance yet to take the vehicle down to get the required look over for full insurance coverage...

Progress has slowed on this down to something worse than a crawl. Ive got a pile of notes to sort through and revise, but I have just had too little time these past couple of months; everything from issues at work to dealing with a relationship break up after almost 9 years (it's not a nasty splitting up but after that long its almost as bad as a divorce). When my life gets settled down again, I will be able to get back on track with this.

I downloaded the PDF of the Pathfinder RPG tonight. For $10 it is bloody 'uge. And the SRD for Pathfinder has gone live, as well. Looks good, and it is lot closer to what I want than was the case for 4e. The Auld Grump I also agree. I could never get into 4e, but as soon as I heard of pathfinder it was love at first sight. I unknowingly wait until 2 days after the announcement of the paper books being sold out to order mine, but I was quite suprised to find my copy waiting for me when I got home yesterday.

I am working on a bunch of 2.5 dfigs that will fold flat or nest. My friends still treat them like they are fragile. I keep telling them they are only paper, but they don't feel it in their guts. Yes, I plan to post them all some day. No, they are not ready yet. That's ok, I do too and especially with 2.5d models.

When it comes to demons, then what about something like the old GW-style bloodletters (red, skinny, long-limbed demons with large swords). Gargoyles is another suggestion. Also, what about some evil cultists and demonic summoners would be fun - either fantasy-style or cthulhu-style cultists. /cobra I also second any GW themed demon that can fill a hole in my paper fig collection for warhammer quest minis

And the dragons are released! Thanks, Godofrandomness, for the request. This was an ambitious set, but still fun to put together. Thanks so much again. These fill a big hole in my fantasy line of figures. I have them printed and will begin assembling them tonight.

It's increased to 3rd on the top 10, good job! I love the set and the Bioweapon fits rigth in with all the horror models from Empty Room quite nice. The only recommendation I would make would be to keep the bases as a seperate file. For those of us using bases outside of the provided ones (though they do look really nice), it does become a bit of a waste of ink.

Well since I have my new printer specially designed to print photo stuff, I tried using photo paper again... and I am loving it! The colors are so much richer. I've printed stuff with both gloss and ,atte paper and I kinda am liking the gloss finish a bit better, especially for bright colored stuff.

Deadlands comes in 3 different flavors... err I mean systems.
Deadlands "classic" (I am not sure if that is the official title for this) is the original system was released somwhen around 1999. It is out of print, but I know you can still get all or most of the books in PDF adn I know they have some sort of direct print to order system for at least the core book for 20-25 bucks USD.
Deadlands D20... well uses the d20 system, and of the fanboys I know, it is considered horrendous because of how badly they interpreted the unique concepts (using poker chips and a deck of poker cards, for example) the classic system introduced (I am not sure exactly as I have never read any of the d20 stuff for it).
Deadlands Reloaded is the savage worlds version, and from what I have heard (again, never read any of the books, and I don't know the savage worlds system), the chips and cards rules added in are actually pretty good.
