Because of feedback in another thread I want to take a minute to share with you my struggle and reasoning to find my current setup on Patreon. Maybe you can give me your feedback what you think about all of this and if the current setup is a problem to you then maybe we can find a better solution. But to start at the beginning, I will explain how I came to my current setup. BTW for those who don't know it, Patreon is a crowd-funding site where supporters of artists can pledge money on a monthly or per project basis. So this is something I had to decide whether to go per month or per project. But regardless of going per month or going per project, because any set of mine can be so different in size and complexity Patreon cannot handle this. If I go per creation I would have to make each creation the same size or change the amount for every project. Also I cannot charge differently for one project level but only for all Patreon, so Patreon does not support the reward tiers like this. If I go per month, again it is quite hard to find the right value per reward layer as, depending on the size of the project, I might be "too cheap" or "too expensive". My solution is to constantly churn out stuff, even parts of what else would be larger sets, to give the Patron something for his or her money every month. What I am going for now in Patreon is a very low pledge amount structure ($2-$4 per month, at some points I had levels at $10+). That is $12-48$ per year and I was hoping that this amount is something anyone can afford. If at any time a Patron finds that I am not producing worth my value, they can turn of pledging whenever they want. Actually (per Patron instructions) I have to check who's pledge is actually coming through end of the month (because Patrons can have limits setup and I might not be in the cut that month) and only make stuff available to those who pay. But I have found a solution to that. My dream for now is to grow a community of fans of me that have come to trust my output (quality and quantity) and are willing to support me like a Patron of old on a per monthly basis without having to worry that they are losing money. The benefit for me is having one site where I can focus my daily updates (it took a lot of time distributing infos on so many sites!) and focus my time on creating stuff. In this setup I leave it up to the Patrons to decide whether to back me up the current month or not. Also I always announce what the reward for next month will be so you never have a situation where you don't know what's coming. The only thing I think I will change is that I will delete the $1 level and turn on the updates info to public. This level was intended for friends helping me test in the beginning and I wanted to see if there was anyone out there who is willing to pay $1 per month just for WIP info. Turns out no one So that about sums up my challenges and thinking process on how I ended up with this setup. Please let me know what you think about it and where you see problems that might keep you from pledging. I am happy to change if we can find a solution that fits all needs. Chris

That way I can close the walls and connect them to the floor/ground and roof or just use clamp parts to hold the walls together and form them straight. This intrigues. Wall joins are the next great fold-flat problem - I've been looking for (brainstorming) alternatives to TLX posts or bobby-pins for awhile now. I'm still not satisfied with the methods I'm using now... You mean interior walls? Or walls in general? The challenge for me is the T-connection. A corner would be like the outside walls, but one wall running into another is my challenge. I have some ideas but not tested anything yet. I will continue my testing soon, once I have finished the ground tiles for the village.

While preparing my next set, the Samurai Village, I have starting to make the fold-flat adaptions. I have tackled the easy walls first. Over on my Patreon I have an article showing the current stage: www.patreon.com/posts/fold-flatting-16487110I know it's nothing new but I thought I share my process anyway. Maybe we can improve it together Basically it's a connector tooth every one inch grid on the top and bottom of the wall and a connector slot on the side of walls. The one connector per inch is just the systemic design, if wanted one can "merge" say two connectors into one wider one as needed as you maybe don't want to cut out many connectors on long walls. On the other hand if you would keep your walls in the one inch grid, you could develop a system of parts that would always interconnect. That way I can close the walls and connect them to the floor/ground and roof or just use clamp parts to hold the walls together and form them straight. As one can also connect walls vertically (going up the levels of a building) I will have to test how the straight connection will look with textures. I have a couple of ideas that might look better if needed. Also I have to think about how higher floors would fit into that equation. I design my models more "finite" and not too modular but I still love a well thought system. So if you guys want to participate and help build an open system, chime in and let me know what you think. If you want to test build also let me know and I will make a test file available.

I sometimes make parts that go over the save area. I then make the cut files to support the safe area and leave it to the user to manually cut the small missing lines.

Those are really nice! I hope to be doing medieval Japanese skirmish gaming by the end of the year, you have no provided me everything I need for scenery This is just the start! There is more to come Fold-Flat yes? Or would you like some help with the conversion? The walls are no problem. The roof I have to try out yet if it will work. Once I have the test ready, I have planned to run it by you and see what the master says

I completed the clean up of the walls files and wanted to give you a quick update. Just this one building will have about 1000 color/texture variations. Next week I will clean up the roof section and then I am looking forward to build a small village with lots of unique buildings to show!

Sounds good to me. Floor mats too, perhaps, plus of course it would be highly appropriate to have movable and/or sliding paper screens and doors in a paper model house interior! Also verandas and roof variations (styles and materials), perhaps? I recall seeing drawings suggesting where livestock were kept indoors in peasant dwellings, there might be interior walls to separate the dirt-floor area from the wooden ones where the humans were, but can't now recall if these were full height or not. I'd suspect not, given European medieval examples, but can't be sure. Much that came up online in a cursory check just now seems, not unexpectedly, to concentrate on the fancier dwellings, castle and temples, which isn't altogether helpful! These simple village houses did not have the sliding paper doors. I think you are talking about my upcoming Samurai Master house! With veranda and all. This village set is for the villagers. Very simple people with simple houses. From what I have seen (historical architecture books and some movies) they are all very basic buildings. There usually is a dirt area inside where the cooking was done (and probably small animals held, although I have an addon building for stable purpose which you have not seen yet. Come to my Patreon for daily updates btw!!! ;-) )

The interior walls pretty much are the outside inside. I am thinking about adding a floor texture. Part of the floor is earth with a fireplace and then a floor wood part to sleep. After the village, which will be probably 3 basic buildings with tons of variations, I want to do a Samurai (village leader) house that is bigger and has more detailed interior.

I'd love to see some animal pens and a market as well. Great stuff! I even hope to make some nice ground tiles for these as well!

Hi guys, wanted to let you know that I am too jumping on the Patreon train. You can find me here: www.patreon.com/papierschnitzelI have struggled to find the right levels and have finally decided to go for a very basic setup. Depending on how it goes and how fast I can churn out models I might have to add some levels for more complex model sets, but I wanted the basic setup to be affordable to everybody. Why don't you hop over, look around and let me know how you like it? Looking forward to your feedback. Chris

History of human kind is full of terrible things, but also of great! Usually the great happens when people realize the madness of the bad and start to evolve. So I think you are on a good path then Punkrabbitt !

Same here ... but for other reasons (old parents needing support), so I feel with you. I agree with okumarts advice, make sure you don't forget your own well being. It's hard when others you love are in pain to find the right balance of giving and recharging. But esp when they need you, you have to make sure you have something to give. Also if you need help, don't hold back and ask. Help can come through the strangest ways ... I find comfort in the words of the Dalai Lama: This too will pass ...

Mine too. That is why I have not looked elsewhere yet! But the youth said the future is bright and shiny and has lots of pretty pictures I have yet to see what the role or function of Instagram is other than just the latest buzz.

Latest WIP ... just a couple more parts missing. The whole gunners hatch assembly and then the landing gear. After that I will have to think about some internal rib structure to make the hull a little more sturdy.
