Still some more fine tuning to do, but what do we think about this? That looks great! Edit: This got cut off. I think it will "read" better this way. More contrast.

This is looking so good! I think Extrastellar needs some alien flora. I was at a wargaming convention a few weekends ago and saw a really great Star Wars game being played with some fancy trees. Photo courtesy of the Rabbits in my Basement blog. rabbitsinmybasement.blogspot.com/2024/03/hot-lead-2024-lots-of-pictures-and-video.htmlIt got me thinking that a more ambitious set of 1960s and 70s classic sci fi era flora should exist.

That looks like an awesome set up. I love the crashed chicharra in the middle. Those damn spindly legs. I reinforced mine with super glue, and it still pretty much sits on it's belly. The set looks pretty nice, and breaking down to fit in a box definitely is a big bonus. I took the wire from twist ties and glued it in between the leg bits and it still is SO spindly.

A less 'tippy' version. This gives a longer base and lower center of gravity. Love it!

I had some fun combining the palm trees from the Contraption Explorers set with the two Sword and Sandal sets that were just released.

Textures done and I think the set is pretty much there. I put the Supporters set up on Patreon and the Final PDF should be available this weekend. Whew... that was a knife fight.

They are approximately 1/72, bat they can be easily resized, can they be useful? Oh wow! Those are great! These would complement my set so well! The set is going to be fairly basic, focusing on one building. The only thing I have to finish up tonight is the stairs and finish the test build.

Last night I worked on the dome. I think this works. Some people were concerned that the roof supports wouldn't support weight so I loaded up 14 metal minis on the roof and everything seemed ok. I even put some of those heavy Mutant Chronicles ones up there.

okumarts, Have you decided how you want to approach the stairs? I was hoping to address that today but I got busy. Looks like that will be some time spent tomorrow. I kind of like the stairs being placed beside and slotted into the roof bit myself. I'm still debating the built in option however.

I printed off the template building and was pleased with it overall. Now I need to work on the stairs.

another option, would be to have oldschooldm's fold-flat stairs affixed to the side of the building This is true, but I could never figure those out.

okumarts, was the help helpful? I actually am intrigued by that desert dwelling I found in my hard drive. I hope to build it either tomorrow night or my home stint Sunday and Monday. I guess I need to get a second set of building tools for down at Dad's. I did rearrange it so that it could be enlarged and worked on enhancing the color a bit. I have some work to do tonight and tomorrow but I hope that I can wrap these sets up for early next week. I shall see what I can get done in that time.

I've been mucking about trying to solve some problems with how to attach side stairs and how it would access the roof. What about making a regular set of stairs, but the top step is a bit higher than the top of the building wall and twice the width of the stair case. You then have a slit in the vertical section of the step, so that it slots over the top of the wall. I scribbled this on the bus to work about 30-minutes ago, then "tarted" it up in paint: Hope it shows what I mean.

Nice. Although I do wish Sinister Cities was fleshed out a bit more What would you like to see? You know I have a few sets in the works. Victorian tenements could be fun.

I think the goal is just to kill off all the characters. Honestly, the players loved it when their characters heads were bitten off by bugs or holding a relic that was too powerful for them made their head melt. Good times!

I ran a Shadowdark Gauntlet adventure Sunday and Monday night. It was called The Cursed Barrow of the Superb Owl: a ShadowDark Gauntlet. It was fun but tiring. Each player had 4 characters. Each were level zero and had between 1-3 Hit Points. The idea is to whittle down the group so the survivors are the eventual 1st level characters. On Sunday only 3 of my regular 5 players could make it so it was somewhat chaotic but relatively manageable. When all 5 were there on Monday it was a serious mob of adventurers descending on the dungeon. First they had to steal some supplies. Then they met ANOTHER group trying to get past a magic door. There was a hall with a stuck door that was waist deep in brackish water and when the far door was touched skeletons rose up out of the water and attacked. They couldn't hit anything. I used some minis by Paper Warriors. He put out some really cool minis. There was a hole in a wall in the tomb that went to a sewer that led to an ocean bay. So that's how I got the next eight characters into the adventure on the second night. Another group got in via the sewer entrance. Creatures lay in wait to drop from the ceiling, of course. I started using fire markers to determine the torch locations. It became super important as the torch bearer on the boat fell in the water and the monsters killed some characters in the dark. Yikes! The teams met up and battled some Ratmen to get to the final resting place of the Supreme Owl Relic. LOTS of other things happened. The false bottom of the sarcophagi dropped out into an underground stream filled with ten more skeletons that climbed out to cause chaos at the end. Everyone escaped though ... SOMEHOW! Also, at the end, the relic tested the Wisdom of the character that picked it up and the first character failed the save and their head blew up. Hilarity ensued. The next character had to act quick as the torches were running out and the skeletons were approaching quickly. The save was made and a false wall was revealed allowing the characters to escape the dungeon just in time. One meta mechanic that I really liked was the 1 hour of real time torches. Using timers on the phone was a fun way to keep track and some torches went out by surprise which was hilarious. The final five characters that will move on (yes, one of them is from a Paper Warriors set). Conclusion: 5/5 fun game! Highly recommended.
