This one is my favorite from the set.... i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk242/AnjanetteB/RS4Favorite.jpgI LOVE this guy! He looks like he is so cocky and tries to come off as "smooth," only to be the guy that hits on the girl, and in the process, triggers an alarm, sets off the security doors, and causes the group to have to come up with an impromptu "Plan B." I can piture the "Hero" shooting him a look, as he smiles and shrugs, relying on his "coolness" to seek forgiveness... The hero says, "If we make it outta here..." What other figure can deliver THAT kind of imaginative story for just one picture? He's one of my top 10 figures of ALL time!

This is a great ( forgotten ) setting. And David is making amazing sets. There are heroes/characters, good ( human ) guys ( space patrol ), evil ( humanoid ) aliens ( imperiax ), ugly bad aliens ( invaders ) ... Now are still missing ( I hope ), space amazons, crazy imperialist robots, rough space pirates, very strange aliens and space/alien monsters and animals. ;D ;D ;D ... some space zombies? Then ... other characters, heavy weapons ... But I'm forgetting something ...

Wow, I got a lot done today, but finished nothing. Let's just say that the art for three sets was completed today: Whiplash Trigger, Retrospace and Darkfast Classic Fantasy. I'll be releasing them over the next week as I finish them. Including this little set I've been working on for some time. A bit of a different approach with this set. 2.5D Pulp Robots!

Nice!!! If you make the "faces" also as separated pieces, to be glued ontop of the printed faces, you'll have free 3D

Is it just me, or does anyone else think these would make cool Christmas ornaments?
;D

Is it just me, or does anyone else think these would make cool Christmas ornaments? ;D That was one of my first thoughts. The robots who stole Christmas! They start by infiltrating our trees as decorations...

The idea of these as christmas decorations is awesome! Here are a few images of the figures 'in action'.

I've been having a lot of fun with these guys... doing them in different sizes... mixing and matching parts. What I would like to have for them would a tracked propulsion unit that the "tin can" could be popped on top of. Or even a big cloud of smoke that the "tin can" can sit on to turn it into a flying figure!
Have fun! Steve

I'm glad that the modularity of the set is appealing. I may need to make a few more sheets of "goodies" soon. All ideas for expansions are appreciated. I'm currently working on finishing the next Whiplash Trigger set and there may be another Retro Space set out before Christmas. Right now I want to put out the Whiplash Trigger set, two Darkfast Classic Fantasy sets and a Dark Age of Adventure before I launch my next line.

One from each of the sets. That "walking drums" are "cute" and fun to look at. If I can say, i'd liked them more with a "less real" texture. I mean: look at the metal of the ray-gun and of the spacesuite of the figure at the left. It is really "another material".

Looks like the next set will support the Invaders. The Space Amazons are on the drawing table. I have a few decisions to make about them first before I complete them.

Great instructions!! ;D Do you realize your INSTRUCTIONS for these were 5X the size of one of my SETS, the Codex AND the instuctions! WOW! The photos were great, too! You can see BOTH your hands. I had to pose one hand, and take the picture with my cell phone in the other... and make it look natural! These guys are GREAT! I love them.

I am really enjoying the 'fluff'-creation of this setting. I'm considering doing a webcomic set in the retrospace universe and maybe even a Space Hulk style boarding party game (like Katana Schoolgirls in scope). Any ideas or interest?

Hi Dave, Could I suggest an ink-saving version of the rules? I love the look of the Katana School Girls rules on my screen, but I baulked at printing them out because of all the ink involved. ( I freely admit I am cheep I ended up exporting the pdf to notepad and then to open office (there's that cheap thing again) to edit/re-format. Now I realise that I a landscaped document that was folded and stapled in the middle, and maybe printed on both sides would be a handy little booklet that would be easy to flip through and not take up a lot of room on the game table, as well as saving that precious coloured ink. Oh, I am also working on tuck boxes for all the cards and similar boxes for the figures, all of which looks like it will fit into a box folded out of a standard 8.5x11 sheet, where I WILL spend the ink Maybe you could include stuff like that? Or maybe it is too much work.

I'd like more a SpaceCrusade-like game. What i mean is that you've plenty of figure to work out "full squads" (Commander, scientist, medic, heavy weapon and std. grunt, etc) and much more different (and interesting to play) baddyes than mindless bugs. And I miss a bit the "open-spaces" and the lot of figures (3 whole squads) from SpaceCrusade, compared to "space hulk".

Something else: the victory points were left off the Gear cards. I don't know that you need them, but if you leave them off you should edit them out of the rules as well.

I've admired the Matakishi website for some time and find it very inspiring. I don't know if I would enjoy the game as I prefer more skirmish based games and less unit style play. Looks like a ton of fun though.
