Dude... you need to start a new thread! 6 pages! Seiously? They are going to have to start breaking this thread into Chapters! I give you credit... a FREE game with PAY figures and accessories. BRILLIANT! In my opinion, you are building a fan base faster than you realize. I know that when it comes to publishers, no matter who they are, I only buy the stuff that really appeals to me. With your stuff, it appeals to nearly everyone. I am glad you are having such remarkable success, and I wish it continues and grows. I know one thing, I plan on being there, following you all the way. What are the secrets to success? Find something that people want. Offer them the highest quality you can. Listen to your "customers" so you can continue to give them what they want. From what I've seen, you have done this and gone above and beyond those expectations. Just my thoughts. Thanks for your attention.

Just picked up the Orc set and quickly ran off two different pages of Orc Warriors, and a page of the Extras. Now my Elves will have something to worry about out in the woods. Dryw the Harper If you keep them coming, I'll keep on buying. Oh, and yes I would spend $5 on a fully customizable set of adventurers.

I'm just trying to figure out what "Adventurer Construction Set" will look like. I think it will be a page with 12 spots that can be filled with optional character combinations that can be printed out as needed. You will be able to 'turn off' what you don't want to print to save ink. Now I just have to see if I can pull this off in illustrator.

Well, I am not going to pretend to know how you do this, but it might be nice to have a female elf, human male, and so forth, and instead of having a "Ranger" having just a guy. The added layer elements will make him a ranger.
You could even have a layer of "clerics" and it would be the same 10-12 figures and they would all be clerics.
I don't know. This may be what you are trying to avoid, but it seems more workable.
At any rate, ill be buying it...

I have found through testing the idea of customizable figures, to design them to fold side to side, rather than at the base. This makes layout and layers much easier to keep aligned from the designers point of view. It changes how the figures need to be folded, but that's a small sacrifice to make adding different weapons ,or even arm sets to figure poses.
For custom figures, you to have at least one portion of the figure fixed, I suggest having leg and torso designs, then vary the arms, equipment, armor, and heads to be changeable. This is far more practical for squads of similar troops, since one layer can change all the figures, but it's easy enough to name the layers for each figure on the layout, just makes for a PDF with a thousand layers.
Just some suggestions from someone who already tried this, and walked away sobbing... JIM

On the positive side, I know many people here are switching to flat bases as opposed to the tabbed bases. This would make flat basing easier with the side-by-side method. Simply score the tab and fold it, then don't glue it. Fold the figure and there you have it. 1,000 layers, huh? I think Okumarts is up to the challenge!

NEXT set? Well, I think the Basic Adventurer Construction Set will be a big project so in the meantime, what would you like to see for the next set? Remember this is a retro, old-school fantasy series. I have some Bugbears drawn, but wondered what else people need.

Classic dungeon monster! The beholder, the Jelly Cube,, the slime pool, the mimic, the owlbear and so on. I always found the "concept" of some of them so ridiculous that your style will make them so funny and hilarious! A bit more seriously, i always found the lacking of Dragons in my D&D campaigns a strange thing..... so i also suggest Dragons. From tiny cute (and dangerous) pets to something 40cm long ;D

Human Rangers/Fighters ( some with armor ) in black ( like Night's Watch in "Song of Ice and Fire" or grey wardens in "Dragon Age" )

Just go to the Random Encounters table in the old AD&D books and pick out the top ten most-likely encounters. Even if they are available elsewhere, I'd like to see your vision of them.
Clerics and Half-Orcs seem to be few and far-between out there.

Rangers and Paladins are always nice... Ettercaps, and like Parduz suggested, things like cockatrice, bassilisk, ilithid (mind flayer), varguilles, and smaller stuff! I don't care what it is, you know me, I'll buy it and probably glue particle cannons on it!

So many sets would be cool to see implemented.
Ettercaps or Bullywugs would be cool for an encounter type set.
I'd really like to see a Githyanki vs. Githzerai set (with a few mind flayers to round it out) but this might be a little too specific for most folks.
A set of familiars would also be cool, or golems, or demons.
A set of lizardmen, with a similar variety as your orc set so an entire village could be represented would be pretty sweet as well.
If you decide to do beholders I would suggest a page that has all of the Beholder kin variants, which I would really love to see.
Anyone else think a set of SpellJaming figures would be cool?
What about halflings or gnomes? (or gully dwarves?)

A set of Halflings would be awesome. It's almost impossible to get halfings in any medium that match.
I have all the D&D Plastic ones, and the scale is all over the map between sculpts, and it doesn't get any better buying them in metal. I haven't come across more than 1 or 2 in paper either.
I don't know about any one else, but I'm partial to the furry feet, chubby tolkenesque hobbity halflings over the skinny looks like a human child halflings.

I guess what I'm wondering is if everyone is ok with sets that focus on "one type" of character/monster like the Orc and Elf set or if a mix is better for people. I think Customizable Player Character/NPC sets will be popular, but I don't know how much crossover there is in a Bugbear set or a Hobgoblin set. I'm going to make them anyway because it fills a real void, but it is always good to hear some feedback.

You could do a variety pack to introduce your figures, with individual sets of specific types.
I hadn't really thought about it, but there really is a shortage of halflings. So I agree with a lot of the posters.
Paladins should be few and far between. Rangers could be some of the thief and woodman characters out there, because they aren't really supposed to stand out. Clerics and Druids should be more abundant than available figures indicate. But Halflings need to be better represented ... not quite as common as rats, but somewhat common.
That was also a good thought on familiars.

Well, if you are going to do a racial set, having 10-12 Ettercaps wouldn't work... you wouldn't have an ettercap cleric, thief and whatnot. There is always the catfolk pride. You could do a whole set of these... or centaurs! Archers, rangers, mage, shaman, warriors, guard, champion... either one would be cool. Well, actually ANYTHING you do is cool. I guess there is one little request (or criticism)... I LOVE minotaurs. You did the one in your DarkFast set... which was awesome... except for the eyes. The "googlie" eyes took an awesome figure and made it look too cartoonish. I personally would have liked to seen it look a little more intimidating. (BTW, a whole set of Minotaurs would be great, too, using the same ideas I listed above).

I too agree that a full racial set is better than a mixed set. I love the OneMonk Goblinoid set, but if you needed a horde of Hobgoblins you had to print off page after page with all the rest of the Goblinoids you didn't need at the time. Your Orc set make it so there is a horde of Orcs when you need Orcs. Same with your Elves. As for Halflings, well... my current game doesn't have any (which is why there are so few Imperfect Halflings), so they are not a high priority for me. A Goblin set and Hobgoblin set would see much use, and I'd love to see your take on Giants. But much like everyone else, I'd probably buy just about any Fantasy-themed set you put out. Funny, I was thinking Goblins, too. I love the one in the Free DarkFast set... I could stand to see MANY more of those. Maybe you could even squeeze out a few extra since they are smaller in scale (unless you were going to throw a couple Hobgolbins for "support"). Maybe I should just give you my credit card number and you can just charge me and email me the sets as you do them... saves the trouble of going on-line and downloading them...

One idea I was thinking about is multiracial undead.
Sure we have human zombies, but in the field the adventuring necromancerwill raise just about anything they kill. Zombie Orcs, Zombie Hobgoblins, Zombie Goblins, etc...
At the very least they would add variety to shambling hordes.

The multi-race undead thing is a good idea. I will have to look into that. Seriously though I'm a bit torn as to what the next set should be. I wanted the releases to be "bad guys" then "good guys" and have them alternate. The next set was supposed to be bugbears, but I thought the set seemed uninspired and lacked the character present in the elf and orc sets. I'm still aiming for a few new Darkfast sets before Christmas.

Looks like a Clan Eshin Skaven Assassin jumping out of a disguise (fake head on a stick, stilts, etc.) to kill a... giant? ogre? chieftain or jarl. A freakishly good scene.
