I am sure kitbashing the 2D door into 3D would not be that hard using the floor tiles as a depth texture.
Looking great. Was a tad worried that you had crashed and burned back there but then I caught sight of your wings powering through the smoke. Good show old boy.

Lord Abaddon of Wormwood *grin* Thanks for the vote of confidence. I am well known for never finishing stuff that I start Yeah - I was a bit nervous myself. I still think there are a couple of issues to be resolved, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Making the door 3D would be easy. Making it 3D and fold flat for storage - that's the real challenge!! Didn't get very much done last night (In fact I got nothing done, design wise). I'm hoping for something a bit better over the weekend. As usual - I'll keep you all posted... DaveA

Dave,
Any update yet on these? What have you done with the DPI - left it or scratched it and started over. If they were scaled correctly in the first place the DPI should matter too much but if they were tiny and needing to be scaled that is were the problem lies.
These are going to look very smart with Jim's Adventures that are being released next Friday (Friday week actually)

Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face, Great chieftain o' the pudding-race! Aboon them a' yet tak your place, Painch, tripe, or thairm: Weel are ye wordy o'a grace As lang's my arm. Sorry for the lack of updates!! I've had a mad weekend which culminated in last night's Burns' Supper hosted at my home (A day late - I know - but there were other things to do on Sunday, I'm afraid). I'd just like to reassure everybody that lack of progress recently is NOT due to lack of motivation. Simply due to lack of spare time. Real life is busier than normal at the moment. I'm keeping my motivation high by reading all of the SBH rules & expansions. I want to use these tiles myself over the next few months. 'Scratching an itch' is always the best way to make sure I get the job done. Positive note: I have been able to do the 'bump maps' for the doors. So I'll post some textured shots of these in a day or so. @ abaddonwormwood: As far as the dpi issue goes - I've not changed anything. The tiles have been saved & textured at 150 dpi, and I was happy with the B/W print test. I think they will scale up to double size (50mm sqaure 'flags') comfortably without undue loss of detail. I've yet to do a proper colour print test of this, but I am very confident. Right! Back to real-world work now. Might get some stuff done tonight. Stay tuned. DaveA

Hey Dave! Those doors look awesome! Are you planning on putting the standard onemonk black borders around them? I think if you did they would look all that much nicer and would be much easier to cut out and edge. Just my two cents! onemonkeybeau

So when is the Beta being released for testers?

Borders - Yes. (Missed them when I textured the image, but noticed the lack when I posted it to the forum. Already done) Beta Tests - Well, I'm willing to be flexible about that. So far, only the small doors are textured. Still got to do medium and large doors. But If testers want to try with just the small doors, I'm happy to send the files out. I will have to format all of the tiles into PDF files first. I was going to leave it until all of the doors were done, and then just do the PDF formatting as one big job. I suppose I should also think about hosting the final PDFs for download. Any suggestions? I could probably look at getting them hosted at Paperworlds, but I seem to remember Jim mentioning something about it. (Although I wouldn't want him to do it if the expense in time & money were prohibitive). Does anybody know of any good free RPG or miniatures download sites that would be willing to host them? DaveA

Work progresses, AWW. Never fear. I've finished the medium sized doors, and nearly done with the large doors. I'll start creating PDFs towards the end of the week. That's the plan, anyway. DaveA

Sorry guys. The news has not been good this week. "Busy" is simply not descriptive enough to explain how snowed under I've felt. The weekend isn't looking too great either, but I intend to set some specific time aside to focus on the Dungeon Tiles and get the images finished - even if I don't get around to creating the page layouts or the final PDFs. Wish me luck! DaveA

Work has been very slow over the last few days - real life is hitting me pretty hard at the moment. Everything is good, but it just eats into design time. I've made a couple of corrections pointed out by Beau, and I've finally finished the large doors (including a moss version). Check it out: (I've just noticed there are a couple of corrections to make to it. Oh well. That's what you get for rushing I suppose) I'm going to try and get an hour a day in on the project this week. DaveA

Well, I've got some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that I've not made any progress on any new tiles. Work, Church & family have all been taking their toll. And I'm pretty exhausted most nights. The good news is that I've decided to publish what I have so far. I'm currently trying to set up a PaperMakeIT account so I can make the PDFs available for download. Here's a sample of the layout: DaveA

I've uploaded 3 files to the papermakeIT downloads section. But I haven't even tried to test print them yet! (I'm a bad, bad, boy...) If anyone would like to give them a try, please feel free to download & print them. Let me know if they scale correctly. Each Dungeon square should be 100mm x 100m, and the individual square flags should be 25mm x 25mm. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will be OK. Post your feedback on this thread please. I can't try a test print until Friday (I'm off work tomorrow because it is my birthday! YAY!). If everything is OK I'll upload the other files over the weekend. There are 21 files in all. And that doesn't include the doors. DaveA

Wow they look nice on screen, though I too dont have time atm to do a test print. They do look really nice, and I plan on printing out tons. I'm hoping to start a giant dungeon run using pathfinder after my current campaign runs through, and these will work perfect!

Made a tiled A4 page of these to help base my new Photo set for the new range of Jim's work. Now need to wait for a few hours to see how the colour settles on the page.
The size looks to be 100mmx100mm once printed.

I managed to print the pdfs off on Friday. They look OK to me. I'm happy that they are scaled correctly. Incidentally, the page size is custom. It should fit A4 and US Letter sheets without the need to 'fit to page' or anything like that. All of the floor tile files have now been uploaded to the papermakeit downloads section. Here's the link: LINK(Just for AWW ) Time to finish the doors! DaveA

Im finally got these printed, and man they look AMAZING!!!!!!
I'm printing them on standard paper, but I will be gluing to foamcore afterwards. I just wish I could afford to use canvas paper for these, but at $2.50 per sheet and I'm printing about 50 tiles total so far, it is WAY to expensive....
Is there going to be a final PDF release for the doors?

Yes - I've been quite lax, GoR. Apologies for that. I was sort of waiting to see if anyone had any feedback. I'm happy with the scaling - they've definitely come out the correct size - but I wonderd about the colours. They are quite BLUE. Seeing them on screen is one thing, but seeing them once they are printed out is quite another. It's grown on me, but I wondered if anyone was going to complain... I'll try and get the doors up this week (but I can't promise. I've got a really busy week again) DaveA

I'm quite content with the color. they look really nice. I'm still trying to get the time to mount all the printouts to foamcore (I've got about 50 or so pages to do).
