VK,
I just got home and looked at your pictures of the completed diorama. WOW! I REALLY like it! My bet is that the judges will also. Thanks for sharing the results of what must have been a brain draining, nerve wrenching project.

Could you bundle up the house as a PDF? Easier to store and share that way. :-)
This is an AWESOME model, and probably should be considered in the "model" category instead of "kitbash" - it's got very little left of the original in there.

Honestly, I was leaning that way, because there isn't much obvious original in there, but there is a lot more than is apparent. The dome, both levels of dormers, and then I went with Chris's textures on the dome and porch roof and floor as a nod to the original model.
Next week I intend to get my DropBox up and running again. I did zips of the different sections (DS, Porch, Dome, and Cupola/Dormers/Chimneys). The smallest of those files is 17 Mb. Too large to add as an attachment. So, I hope to have it available soon

Hmmm... Third attempt at combining files to get the simplified mail coach. I keep creating new issues.
I think it is time to start from ground zero, and then apply the graphics from the first coach. Or step away and face it with fresh eyes and brain cells Monday.

Well, I think I have DropBox up and running again. Let's see if the zip file link works www.dropbox.com/s/6kwzxn3f669p7jb/Dodecagon%20House%20pdf.zip?dl=0

Hey, are you still looking for the late 1800's buildings? I've been collecting images for ideas on repainting Tommygun's Big Building. He had several versions, but none for that time period. It is a modular building, so it is stackable. Following his approach, there would be ground floor walls that can be swapped out for upper floor walls. If you have an example of a building that you like, post it in the other thread, and I will see what I can do

Well, I still owe you guys the simpler to build Royal Mail Coach. When I got home today, late afternoon, that was the first thing I worked on. Didn't go well. Started over after dinner, and I am making good progress. Got the top and bottom units together as one unit, rescaled the handrail/box for the back roofline, rescaled the seats and lamps, and I am able to keep the bottom connector which will make it more solid. Got rid of the fiddly back footpads and brackets. I did widen it slightly. I know they were narrow, but if one were planning on using it in game play, it was just too narrow. Still narrow, but not stupidly narrow now. I apologize to those looking for historical accuracy.
Tomorrow night I'll get the axles and wheels adjusted (the wheels should be extended further from the body than in the original model) and will work on making the front hitch easier to build without leaving as much exposed white. I could possibly start building tomorrow night, but probably not until Wednesday

As you know, I'm better at models than figures. I have gotten the parts worked out, but not downsized. Knowing that it is getting reduced to 90% of its current scale, I've been adjusting the tabs so that they won't just be slivers. When I print and build, I'll have a better handle on enlarging tabs. But here's where I would like to ask a favor. Many times when I need a figure, I'll find an image on the net, cartoonize it and adjust proportions so that they don't look too skinny. The figures I used in the Ashbrooke-Stein diorama, I used cartoons, comic-book images, coloring page figures. Make them slightly wider, and the heads, hands and feet slightly larger, and they look like mini's. I can't get it to fit on one page, without shrinking it down to HO scale, but at two pages, there's quite a bit of empty space, so I tried to make coachmen. I grabbed the driver and 'guard' who stands at the back from an 1810 painting. Only the best images I could find were still too small. Would anyone like to throw together a couple coachmen that roughly resemble these guys? Thanks in advance

I was getting ready to do backs for these guys, then I see you actually need a "front." I'm afraid that is more drawing than I can easily do.

Thanks for at least looking at it. My thought was that paintings from the period would at least be close to what they actually were wearing. I probably should have taken less time trying to fix them digitally, and just traced and scanned and repainted. The problem is the pixilation and the general fuzziness.

Memory jogged. I need to post the files for doing the Dodecagon House without the balcony. Need to swap out the cap for the downstairs and the roof base, and replace the two balcony doors with window dormers. I should be able to knock that out and finish up the Mail Coach tonight. I won't post the simpler Mail Coach until it is built, though, just to make sure no errors cropped up in the revision

Revised mail coach is printed, but not built. For the Dodecagon House without the balcony, most of it is the same. It only needs two new files, Downstairs cap no balcony and Roof base no balcony. DS3 Roof Base Bottom no balcony.pdf (1.43 MB) R3 Roof Base Top no balcony.pdf (1 MB) For no balcony, omit Cupola Dormer page 2, and print CD page 3 twice. On Porch page 4, you can omit the supports. And omit Roof page 4 I might have to go back and revisit my attempt at Queen Anne-style turrets. I'd thought of doing a Halloween version with the turrets ...

I got the mail coach scored, and rough cut, but not built. Got a little side-tracked with the Haunted House, which is currently being printed
