Aaron I could kiss you! Thank you so much for creating these spear-Elves for me I like the look of the Jara Bird Knight sketch. They should be excellent as fast light or medium cavalry.

Those are very intricate and interesting paper models, - I must have a go at some of them sometime.
The Tree Fort certainly looks like it would make a great terrain piece, but I haven't got a clue how it would go together either.

I think what I'll do is build this tower with an interior using some suitable RPG furniture pieces to dress it out. Printed out exterior pieces have already been glued inside the walls as a reinforcement, only I didn't think about exactly lining up windows at the time, but they do look Ok. So it won't so much be an abandoned tower, but one where the Wizard has been absent for a short while. Having a play about with the roof sounds a worthwhile experiment, though so far I've managed to spike my hand at least once on the pointed top of the standard roof so for all its simple appearance it is quite strong.
Once I've completed the first model I think I will build a more abandoned looking tower with missing windows and perhaps a partly burnt out roof. Actually a burnt out roof and a suitably charred looking interior would explain the reason why the tower might have been abandoned with a spell or an experiment plainly having gone wrong and possibly causing the wizard's demise. I'm having a lot of fun with this tower, I haven't really built up any terrain pieces since my now adult children were young and we'd play games of WHFB together, so it's kind of refreshing to be doing this.

Wizard's Tower(Wargame Vault picture) I found this terrain piece on Wargame Vault and was very much attracted to its quirky appearance. With its roof like an outsized Wizard's hat and well buttressed structure to guard against damage from possible explosive experiments I decided that I had to have it. Towers of one sort or another are always useful to have on the wargaming table and with this one being so different to the terrain pieces I already owned definitely went in its favour. I'm not sure what makes it especially abandoned, but there is a smallish padlock on the door. I modified my tower so the door can open and I'm not using the window awnings, but otherwise it's going to be a standard build. One difficulty I did have though was that I had to print the tower PDFs at 95% to get them to fit inside my printer's margins. The scrap oversized printout did get used though as I cut it up to make the interior stonework as with the door open it is kind of visible. I suppose I could do a basic interior, but I haven't made up my mind yet. I will keep the roof removable though to keep the possibility open. Pictures soon.

Oooooooo dragon I am just sooooooo tempted to rush off immediately and print him off and put him together. Aaron, I love the backstory for Jara Jara racing and the special rules sound very interesting. Any chance of you being able to let us see the complete rules for Jara Jara racing? I would imagine the Jara Jara race track must be neutral ground if it's a centre for trade, or am I reading it wrong? As I'm working on assembling a Forces of Nature army for Mantic's KoW rules I'm sorely tempted make use of your Eldufice figure as well as the Kl'cari as members of this army. You are a great storyteller Aaron and the backstory for Eldufice is excellent.

Wonderful! I love the Jara Jara Bird racers. Having the riders wear racing goggles is a wonderful touch. Children of all ages (3-100) are going to love this game. Again the dynamic energy of your artwork makes these figures just so appealing Aaron.

A fairly basic beginning with starting to mod some of the Cardhunter figures. I need some Clerics and Paladins and I thought I'd see what I could do using these figures as a place to push off from.

Thank you so much for the links to the Cardhunter figures, they are marvellous and a great resource to have. Who knows when a particular class of character might be needed in a hurry and being able to print off a suitable Cardhunter mini just might save the day

All your Splinterwood weapons are fabulous, but that sword is...wow! can't wait to see more... I completely agree Aaron, I love the 'fluff' you've written concerning the four nature spirits and I love the names you've chose for the Kl'cari. Will you be adding their names to their bases? Yay! - you're going to create artwork for Tree Spirit folk, - I just know that it's going to be fabulous. Yes the Undead have been pretty much done to death (love that pun). The only way to make them interesting is to theme them closely around a particular historical event such as the lost Ninth Legion returned to do battle, or the 300 Spartans or something similar. Egypt has been a bit too much worked over these days to be as interesting as it used to be unfortunately.

Oh I love good 'fluff' (history) for a race of fantasy people When I was still working as a social worker I had the privilege of attending a short course on community mental health presided over by a wonderful African psychiatrist. His people's native language contained many glottal stops and he entertained us greatly by demonstrating how these were used in everyday speech. If you didn't grow up speaking his native tongue those glottal stops would be just about impossible to master for most Westerners so on that basis I very much agree with the change of name to 'Kl'cari'.

Klecari, - I like that. It's a really good name with a nice fantasy ring to it without being over the top or silly. Definitely gets my vote.
Whether it's a species name or a tribal name it doesn't really matter because it's their name. In fact I might start calling my wee she-Centaurs 'Klecari' from now on whenever anyone pokes fun at them for being so small.
By the way I like the pose of the Klecari in your sketch. It's very original in that a defensive pose like that is rarely seen with minis.
Teenagers? - yes they can be pretty intense. My two are in their late twenties now with my daughter soon to be thirty later this year. That's when you really start to feel old.

Eek, I've sparked off controversy and lengthy discussion! As I mentioned I've used Centaurs in my Elf armies particularly those that were Wood Elf or heavily nature connected. The minis I used were some very old she-Centaur sculpts formerly marketed by Amazon Miniatures who had purchased the moulds from somewhere. They were tiny, standing no taller than a normal Elf and I converted them with green putty and various wicker shields and weapons castings (mostly Essex and Eureka I think) to be quite feral with feathers in their long plaited hair and painted them to have white clay smeared faces and warpaint. Opponents used to laugh at them because they were so small standing on their cavalry bases, - that was until they got mauled by them. (Not the best photo) I called them Feral Forest Centaurs because I figured that your usual large horse sized Centaurs wouldn't do so well in dense woodlands. The sculpts are a bit static and old fashioned, but I like them and wouldn't part with them. When I saw Aaron's Splinterwood Fauns I instantly loved them because they were very much in the spirit of my little Feral Centaurs, but with wonderfully dynamic vivid energy. I completely agree about the Vampire thing by the way. I have never seen the Twilight movies or read the books and I have no intention of doing so.

But you haven't seen the SplinterWood Centaurs yet, Wildagreenbough - they might have six or eight legs... Or maybe I've just got too caught up with Dan's Spawn of Shub-Niggurath minis elsewhere on the CWF - "hey boys, sounds like the cavalry's here; argh, no, it's not, SAN rolls everyone..." The Spawn of Shub-Niggurath is seriously disturbing I like the Splinterwood Fauns, they are a perfect fit for a Wood Elf army. I love their wild and furious energy which Aaron's artwork has captured perfectly.

Some kind of Tree spirit or Tree kin folk is pretty much compulsory in any Wood Elf army. Um I don't want to be picky or anything, but that Faun looks more like a Centaur to me. Nothing wrong with Centaurs mind you, I've used them in my own Elf armies and no doubt will continue to do so in the future.
