COMING SOON... IMPERFECT MAGES' GUILD Whether needed to dispel that nasty magical trap guarding the treasure horde, or to remove the massive boulder blocking the entry to the forgotten dungeon with telekinesis, or even to magically identify an ancient artifact and its powers, it is time for a professional Mage. This set contains a mix of various Mages, from a Merchant Mage to a Spirit Summoner to a Sorceress of Plants to a Raider Mage. Also included is a Journeyman out to make a name for himself, and an Apprentice for carrying books, scrolls, and doing chores as he receives his training, and more. This set is still a work in progres. Dryw the Harper This is going to be fun Will any of these mages look as though they are of questionable moral fiber? Cheers,

This is fantastic, Xtea. Thank you so much for sharing your work with us. I love your choice of colors. My only suggestion would be to lighten all of the colors a bit. I suspect that they may turn out to be a bit too dark when we print them. I'll do a test this evening. Thanks again, Xtea. Cheers,

Wow, Dryw, these people are a riot! It so happens I'll have a use for these in the near future. Now all we need is a set of darkly-clad sorcerers to lynch. Cheers,

My only suggestion would be to make the slots blank rather than red, so-as to reduce the use of red ink when printing these.
Great work!

By the by, who says the Church of Shar is evil? One of my own favorite characters from long ago was a bi-classed rouge-priest of Shar (okay maybe he was an assassin-priest). I never regarded myself as evil, simply expedient. ;D Maybe your right. After all, Shar just seeks to destroy the worlds she and Selune spawned and return the material universe to a state of entropy. Sure, it's true that she "resides in the deepest shadows, nurturing the secret hatreds, the unnatural desires, and the lust for revenge that resides in the black corners of the mortal heart" (FRCG 4e), but who doesn't.

These are brilliant, Dryw. Somehow one feels less guilty about killing the baddies when they are made anonymous by visors and cowls If you´re interested in pursuing the baddies theme any further, you could draw some evil wizards and priests to accompany or command the evil soldiers. I´m thinking of the Forgotten Realms again, which brings to mind evil aligned groups like the Zhentarim, the Cult of the Dragon, The Red Wizards of Thay, The Church of Shar, etc. Cheers,

Whew. Dryw, that smiley is not good... keep it fun. If you don't like to do what we are requesting, do what you like to do. We all will be happy to get whatever "imperfect" you'd like to give us... ... this post does'nt sounds like good english.... but i'm not able to write it better I echo Parduz on this, Dryw. If you're feeling overwhelmed or this becomes a drudgery, it's not worth it. You've already provided us with an incredible array of figures.

I also really liked what seemed to be leather armor on the Nobleman in the red cape with the sword in the Nobles set. I think nasty mercenaries soldiers in leather armor would look great. Cheers,

So according to all of you the next set should be Imperfect Short People? Dryw the Harper Now that you say it, that sounds like a great idea: Gnomes, Halfings and Dwarfs of various classes, with a decent number of females in the mix. We've already got a number of male dwarfs after all.

I have the first three actual Evil Soldiers inked both front and backed but not colored. [...] Suggestions on prefered color schemes welcome. I would vote for darker hues involving browns, grays, and dark reds. Also, a few black haired soldiers (with the blue highlights) would be good.

Nice. The bearded, gray-haired noble with the sword will work perfectly for the key noble in the adventure I'm currently running. Cheers,

You know, I must have b'jillions of metal figures over my three decades of gaming, but I don't recall a single female Dwarf figure during all that time. Yes, decent 3D minis of female dwarfs are hard to come by. There are a number of female fighter type dwarves, but I've yet to find a decent looking cleric or ranger. Looking forward to the nobles Cheers,

Dryw, I've already had my share of requests, but if you're casting around for ideas, what about some more female dwarfs: ranger, fighter or rogue?
Cheers,

Mayhaps I should try scanning in the ink drawings before I color them so those who wished to could experiment with changes. Sadly, as I mentioned earlier, the soldiers were colored directly on the original ink work so there isn't a "blank" version. Dryw the Harper That's a great idea, Dryw. I didn't have much luck recoloring, but I bet I could make a go of it if I started with blank figures.

Not familiar with the Zhentarim, or really and D&D settings anymore...did you mean something like this? If so, I can have these done by monday evening. Eric (who needs a break from staring at the RoboMaster program) These look great, Eric. I would eliminate the Zhentarim symbol; both because it opens up having other people use your newly recolored versions for various purposes, and because, to be honest, I've never liked nor used either of those symbols. I use the symbol of the god Cyric, which is simpler, more medieval looking and more intimidating. forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/File:Cyric_symbol.jpgA simple skull would do; or no symbol at all is fine too, if that's easier. Beggers can't be choosers Thanks, Eric. cheers,

Sorry, folks. My attempts at recoloring these soldiers to make them look like Zhents or generalized baddies have been utter failures, and not worth posting. I'm afraid we're going to have to wait till Dryw comes up with something. Cheers,

Afet, Cool. Go right ahead. You caught me right before I started to recolor the originals to see how they'd come out. Instead I'll keep working on the next set of Imperfect Adventurers (I now have an Amazon warrior in the works for the next Imperfect Adventurers). I seriously doubt that my recoloring efforts will compare to yours, but I'll give it a try. Yes, there are a lot of people here who participate over at the FDG forum, as well as at Worldworks, and Ebbles, and others. Tom made me a moderator a while back when he went away to a Con. I guess he figured that I was loitering there anyway, so he might as well put me to work And yes of course, feel free to post updates on new sets in the thread I started about your minis: fatdragongames.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=1153&page=1#14096Cheers,

Mind you, since they are primarily white with light blue trim, the white could be recolored as red and the light blue recolored as black with little difficulty. I think I'll give this a whirl. I'll post what I come up with. Cheers,

Awesome, once again. Thank you for these Dryw. I'm glad the wand has its magic back in working order. As you know, I play in the Forgotten Realms. These soldiers will work perfectly for the city guards of Waterdeep. And the shields would be easy to customize (to a purple dragon, a twisted tower, etc.) for any number of national or municipal settings in the Realms. Currently, however, the PCs in my campaign are in Zhentarim occupied Daggerdale (circa 1367 DR); and they will have fairly regular run-ins with Zhent soldiers and mages. The blue and white uniforms of these soldiers is a little too light-hearted for them to serve as Zhents, who (based on descriptions in FR novels and pictures in supplements) tend to wear darker uniforms with red, purple accents. If you're interested in an idea for another set, it would be great to have a group of more conventionally "evil" looking soldiers; perhaps even with a stereotypical skull on their shield. These could serve as the all purpose "bad guy" minions in almost any campaign setting. After all it has to be someone's job to, as you say, "oppress the Farmsteaders and Townsfolk". Heck, if you had uncolored versions of these, I might even have a go at changing the color scheme for the uniforms myself. Thanks for these great looking and useful NPC sets, Dryw. Cheers,

Sadly, my wife is re-enchanting her magic wand at the moment and I must patiently wait for her to finish so she can transform the file into a PDF. Perhaps by the end of today. Dryw the Harper I hope the spell component cost for the "re-enchanting" isn't too high.

9 Soldiers done, the front ink done on the remaining Soldier, the Sargent, and the Captain. This will be a set of 12 figures when it is complete. Dryw the Harper Tabris, you will have to wait for the next set of Adventurers for the Harper figure. No problem. Take all the time you want. Just a correction. He should not have the symbol of his organization in his person, at least not obviously so because The Harpers are secret seciety. The Harpers are what the Spanish call a "secreto a voces" .

Afet-> Sorry but I dont have a version without harness. sry ^^" I have a knight horse in the set, as dryw told it. He stood on two feet but one in front and one in back. xDD ok sry for my terrible english. xDDD and thanks! Xtea, please do not apologize for your English. It is admirable that anyone non-native speaker can communicate at all in this language plagued with inconsistencies, bizarre spelling, metaphors. Anyway, I look forward to your knight horse. May I request that the mane of the horse not cover the saddle? I would like to mount paper minis on the your horse, using slots. But this will not work well if the mane is in the way. Thanks for your beautiful horses. Cheers,

My next project is a patrol of actual Soldiers (chain mail, tabards, shields, assorted weapons) for manning castle walls or patrolling the countryside. It is about a third of the way towards completion. Dryw the Harper These sound great. Can I request that a number of them have darker hair colors like brown or black? Hopefully the riding and/or warhorses that Xtea is working on will work with these. That way we can make up mounted patrols. Cheers,
