Yes a Robo Cutter is on my wish list. It would save me huge amounts of time as far as cutting goes.

Well I was setting up to take my photos of the suppression troops tonight and get things off to Jim when stupid me I spilled my Arizona Peach Tea (full 24oz can) all over my figures and photo boards. So release will be set back a few days as I build some more . Blah I hate cutting. Nate

My first thought was, "Wow! Is that just the leg?!?!" Then I looked a little closer, oh, I get it. So the next question becomes; 3d? 2d? 2.5d? A combination like you did for your previous PA? My bet is on the last one. In answer to your question its 2.5+3d. The legs are done in the same fashion that my other power armor is done but I have improved on the 2.5d armor so that when viewed from most angles it looks 3d. Here is a rundown on the parts. 3D Body Hip 2D Legs Weapons 2.5d 5 parts that make up the leg armor. I have done these in varying thickness so that the plates can overlap on another to give it a more 3d feel. Also there are parts of the legs that have a front and back armor plate. Weapon shrouds Hip Joint Shoulder Joints I was hoping to keep it like my other power armor and have 2 sets on 2 pages but thats not going to happen. So here is what you get for the model. Page 1: Body, Hip, Shoulder Joint, Machine gun, Flamer, Rockets, Energy wep, Auto cannon, Sensor array and weapon shrouds Page 2: Leg armor, Hip Joint, 2.5d reinforcements (more on this later) and 4 Legs (1 stepping forward, 1 stepping back, and 2 standing still). IF I can I want to do two sets of weapons on page 1 so that yo can have 2 of the same weapon without printing another page but will see how the layout goes. They only thing I have left to do is make weapons for them and the weapon shrouds then build it and make instructions. All in all it should give you a large amount of options as far as how you want to put them together. If you mix up the weapon and leg combinations you can have about 20 different looking models. Nate

Stupendous! Do you have any sketches of the PA yet? Just for you sir! I slapped it together using some of the side views of the 2.5d and 3d parts. but you can kinda get the Idea of where i want to go with it. There is also a trooper for scale. The wep is not finished and is just there are a representation. Nate

I agree that there is a serious lack of quality mech games out there. But I have a surprise up my sleeve. Something I have been playing around with for some time now. That is all I'll say because thats about all I have aside from a few notes and what not but I also have this to tease you with. Now that you have seen it don't bug me about it ;D. Were talking months perhaps even a year before I can get my ideas into something practical that I can even attempt to market. Nate

Hows this bad boy coming along? Its not ;D. There are some design elements that I have been working on. A new joint system for the weapons and also a redesign of the legs system. All of which will be put to the test on the much smaller power armor. This guy is 4th on my to do list so once I get a good test of the above mentioned parts and a few more 2d figures done Ill give a shot at this. Personally I think that doing 3d/2.5d mech and vehicles are far more simple then working on 2d flats. With vehicles there is no need to total and complete detail like on figures because there is an added dimension to the models. Anyways I ramble on. Updates will be posted as I can get to them. Nate

The power armor is about 50% done but I don't have a picture that you all will be able to make sense out of . The body and hips will be 3d objects and the legs/arms will be 2.5d parts. As far as design style goes I wanted to get away from the standard "battle Armor suit" So this is more like a very small mech. Think SF3D meets a metal gear solid 4 gecko. Total height will be between 53mm and 60mm when complete. This will be a great test for the new joint system I have worked out and much simpler to build then the NRSS power armor I made before. Nate

hehe I thought about making my mech have 1701 somewhere on it but without the NCC before it. Alas It would be too cliche (HA let the spell checker try to solve that one).

EDIT: holy crap it figured it out ;D

I believe so. I had a very warm reception to the Terran fleet that I worked on earlier this year. That was also a very basic 2.5d design process back when I used ms-paint. I think that if someone put the time into making and creating a great set of ships it would be a wonderful addition to the community.

Here are my versions of the modular turret designs. Jim let me know what you think and ill unfold them. You have right and left everything (except for the middle spar) module order from left to right back to front. Command, main gun, middle spar, twin auto-cannon, large rocket pod, small rocket pod, artillery, searchlight, extra armor and dozer blade. The dozer and armor will be simple 2d objects just to give a little depth to the model. Heck Jim might have a better design in the works already. Enjoy EDIT: I redesigned these to fit the turrest base that I made for Jim in the above post. Nate

OK now that I have the name situation worked out I can refocus on getting some figures done. Below is an example of the Suppression Troops that I will be releasing for my next set. Its a set of heavy weapons to form assault units or just beef up the standard platoon. There will be 5 different weapons Flamer, Heavy Machine Gun, Energy Weapon, Grenade and Rocket Launcher. The units will also have backpack with addition ammo and slightly increased armor. Weapons and Backpacks Quick test build Dont mind the mistakes on the backpacks they have already been fixed. Nate

Thanks for the support everyone! I'm kinda leaning to National Centric Combine or NCC. I need to get some of the history for the armies written down so that you can see where I want to go with my ideas. I'll make a final decision on the name in the morning then redo the figs and documents so Jim can upload the changed ones ASAP.

OK I have changed as much of the name as I can in the forums. I have also sent updated files to Jim to be uploaded to RPGnow. My apologies for any confusion this has caused as there was no correlation between my work and any other publishers it was just a cool name. I have since changed the name to Combine of Democratic Nations or CDN. Again my apologies for any confusion this has caused. Thanks to Paraplegic Racehorse for letting me know.

onemonkeybeauI will be providing backs to the 2d parts similar to what I did on my power armor. I might add more detail to them rather then just a flat shader because you can actually see some of the backs when the model is built. I have never gotten the sharpie to work when building 2.5d stuff. I gave up and when to my local copy store and ran off about 50 sheets of card stock copying a black page. Then I print on the other side. Saves me time and sharpies. But I think for something this size there needs to be some detail in there. jabbroI thought about making some treads and stuff for it but I'm gona keep it simple for now. Besides we will see where Jim and I can go making modular parts for vehicles. I want to keep the work I do for Jim and the things I do for myself as two very separate entities so I'm just going to be doing non modular models for now. The top is meant to rotate 360 but it actually cant. Unfortunately when building paper models sometimes you have to sacrifice functionality for feasibility. Ill see how things look once i get it unfolded and test built. Nate

Ill keep it 10mm and see how it looks 5mm is workable but the larger the parts the better.

I will be maintaining this thread for 2.5/3d armor for my CDN army line. My first 2 models I want to get done for this line are the power armor (Needs some major reworking) and a mech. Below is a test render for the mech. The legs are 2.5d with so much armor that they look 3d and I plan to have a variate of weapons to be mounted on the shoulders. Enjoy Nate

Scraped the eyes again and went with the Sam Fisher look. Other then that all the parts are complete and I just need to pose the figures. Its taking me some time because I'm switching between the Bunker set and these figures. Below is a final color and textured figure. I might do an alternate color scheme in olive drab with camo armor. You will also receive blanks. First set will be 10 figures 6 assault rifles, 3 shotguns and a Sargent with CCW and pistol. I hope to get four sets done. This one, a set of 8 or 10 heavy weps, 10 scout/jump troops w/ light armor and small arms and a 8 or 10 man command group/hero set. Enjoy Nate

I agree with you guys about the eyes. In fact I scraped the 4 lenses due to the small amount of room and went with a cyclopes/cylon looking single bar. Ill have more pictures tonight when I get back to my computer
