I agree with silentsquirl in that paint shop pro might be the cause of the problem. I think the issue lies in how your program translates the PDF into a workable format. There are some of Jim's PDFs that when I converted them into Tiffs there was some size issues when I tried to copy and paste them to create a mixed war-band. Again I found that the issue was with the program I was using and not the PDFs. I have changed over to photoshop and This issue does not rear its ugly head anymore. I did notice when putting together February's hoard that some files were not to scale but still had the correct base tabs and dpi. Again I think this is just a program difference rather then something actually wrong with the figure. Give Gimp a try see if that works if not we can rack our brains here and see what we can come up with.

The nice thing about doing them in separate pieces is the ability to have the front arms reach behind the back arms. It really gives loads of depth to the models. I cant wait to see what the sci-fi blocks yield they look interestingly simple.

Edit: As far as avatars go aside from fl0ydski jumping in this thread looks like a meeting of hybrid broods ;D

Looking sweet!
I was even more lazy then you hence the photoshoped arms. I love the hybrids but hate to put them together its tons of cutting.
I need to get coloring on the Demolisher I designed so that they are in Jim's hybrid colors.

Great to see how this looks finished. It seems that great minds think alike and I have several poses of the image below finished and have been sitting on my hard drive for months as I try to figure out what colors I want to make my Hybrid army. Sadly I have never printed out one and gave it a test build. Nate

I agree with fl0ydski. I use photobucket and have been happy with there service. They also have a nice set of online editing tools so you don't have to mess with a photo editing program to crop and adjust brightness ans stuff.

Just out of curiosity whey vector trace settings does everyone use? I usulay seem to get some filled in areas or gaps formed in my final vector image. Could someone give me the type of scan used, speckles suppression, smooth corners, optomize pathways ext... This would be a great help!

fl0ydski,
How did the hybrids go together at 15mm? I have been working on a set of paper space marines in this scale. Unfortunately I can't post pics or ever release the files on line because there exact copies of GWs stuff only with 2d figs and 3d tanks.

I just read through the flat out war rules and they are very similar. I have worked out a slightly different combat system that includes firring arcs and weapon half-lifes. Got a request though. The models i will be getting finished over the next few days will need some tweaked out bases. Any chance you can get something like this made with you starfield texture? My skill in gimp and photoshop is very limited and I would love to be able to remove the lines if possible. Thanks, Nate

I was thinking along something of the same lines. In fact I have got some had written rules on a note pad i keep in front of the TV. I want to get them more smoothed out but the ships will consist of 6 classes each represented by a die (d4-d20). I am a huge d6 fan (don't need to buy and keep track of loads of die) but i found that giving each class a die would make balancing and classing easier. In essence 2 fighters attack on another both rolls a d4 and the higher wins. There will be abilities that can modify the number rolled putting one side or the other on a disadvantage. As far as class balancing a d4 fighter will not take on a d12 destroyer and hope to actually cause any damage Where as 10-20 d4 fighter might actually hit something vital. Like i said i need to smooth them out and finish with the abilities before i post something even close to resembling rules.

Squiermedad,
Mind if i just use a link to your stands and bases it will free up a large amount of space on the page for more models. These are great!
Nate
PS thanks for the link on your site as well.

Being the huge fan that I am of post nuclear apocalyptic settings It was only natural that I get this game. I have always had a strong love hate relationship with the Fallout series of PC games and just in general have had a interest in nuclear physic's spawned by a small fascination with the Chernobyl incident. Also it might have something to do with my unfinished bachelors degree in stellar astronomy. Ya got to have a PHD in that area to make any money hence why I never finished school. In the next few paragraphs will be my first impressions on the product and where I think it will take me.
Appearance: The PDF was very easy to locate and download of there website. It has many illustrations and is broken up into chapters with a table of contents at the front for easy navigation. I was able to get it printed off at my local office supply store for about $2.40 for monochrome black and white (some of the grafx resolution and clarity was lost) and in gray scale (looked just as good as the PDF) for about $14.20. There is a total of about 40 pages. The game mechanics take up about 18 pages. Followed by the abilities and equipment rules that take up 9. Lastly a small campaigns section for the rest of the book. The font is easy on the eyes and the pages are usually broken into 2 coulombs.
Setup: The rules can be used with either 15mm or 28/30mm figures and requires a relatively small playing space. character creation is awesome. It relies totally on random rolls to generate your party's. At first I was very sceptically of this but after creating my first set of adventurers I had a blast. There are several races to chose from and some can be mixed and matched. There is a section in the back of the book that deals with other methods of selecting parties but I found that the random selections worked the best. As the rules are universal there are no model requirements just some to play with and a table to play on with very minimal amounts of scenery. The models are set up with just 2 stats and then random skills and equipment. The skills are varied nicely and I only had a few of them doubled when I generated my party. The equipment is very simplified down to about 8 categories ranging from HTH weapons to death ray guns (go figure on that last one).
Game Play: Here is where the game deviates drastically from most games out there. There is the Activation sequence where you elect a model to make an action (moving, shooting, healing ect.....). There is a roll on several die and upon succeeding you make your actions and move on to the next model. If you fail more then 2 rolls on a model your turn is over. At first this seemed a little to random but after playing my first game I have to say this is a great system. There is a LOT more strategy involved then is first apparent. Combat is smooth and quick. I played a game with 5 models and it lasted exactly 54 min. That, I think is very good considering that this was my fist game and rules need to be looked up. (although i was playing on a very small playing field and units where engaged in ranged combat from the start). There are several scenarios that are included with the rule book as well as a campaign system to give the games some longevity worth of a good gaming night!
Conclusion: If post apocalyptic settings are for you this is by far the best game for skirmishes. The game mechanics are very simple yet provide for varied game play. The races and race creation are top notch and loads of fun to just mess around with! There is a neat set of campaign rules to give your game night more of a purpose. This is a must get if you like the setting!

LOOKS GREAT! I would just darken up the white areas some so as not to distract from the color of the models. Or to blend in a little better on black playing boards. Still a great looking starfield. If your looking for inspiration or just a cool site to go looking through for a few hours give this a try. hubblesite.org/ It's a site dedicated to the Hubble telescope and its pictures. Granted most of the images are enhanced or even not in the visual spectrum but still really cool! Nate

Great work can't wait to see it come together. I used the same 25mm template for my dwarfs. It's smaller then the other models but you can still get loads of detail in there.
