After thinking about it I decided to withdraw my pledge right on the 11th hour. Basically I need more minis like a hole in the head and I already have a number of papercraft dungeon layouts from all the usual suspects, - so why the heck do I want to spend money I can ill afford on yet another dungeon game system no matter how dressed up it might be with sparkly bells and whistles.

What an amazing fleet of ships! I have never seen so many Lego ships in one place before. Rules for naval combat seem to be not easy to find for larger scale vessels. I had a go at building some gunboats myself for Steampunk Colonial Sci-Fi, but never really had the time to put into trying to play a game with them.

Awesome decals! Where'd you get them from? I'm getting more and more tempted to build an army! If you go to the second page there are stores with qty of over 100 but the price is a little higher $0.30-0.40. Ryan The Lego community has created a considerable number of pieces of decal artwork that are available for free under the usual stipulation that nobody tries to offer them for sale. Most of the decal artwork I have came from the Eurobrick forum. There are also some decals available on ebay where their creator is offering them for sale in a peel and stick form which is still waaay cheaper than buying the genuine Lego minifigs.
I will look into buying some Bricklink heads, but it will have to wait until after the weekend when a kickstarter I'm supporting concludes and money will be wanted.

What an excellent diorama set piece I really like those Mechano Empire minis and they look really good posed on the street and ready to hunt zombies.

Ok the links should be fixed now, - sorry about that. Yes I've heard about Oxford bricks and I've wanted to check them out for a while now.

I thought this might be of interest..... BrickquestEdit: And I can't get away without mentioning Brikwars....... Brikwars!Be careful about venturing into the forum though if you're easily offended as it's very much a no-holds-barred, bad language freely used kind of place which is why I don't go there anymore. The Brikwars rules themselves are Ok and are a lot of fun.

I hear what you're saying hasturhasturhastur, - I would hate to think how many unpainted minis I have (sigh). The Elves in my collection are more likely to be painted than other minis, but as for the rest they are all 'legions of the grey'.

Ok, links..... These are for the Chinese Aliexpress website which is in some ways like traders who have an ebay store. Three Kingdoms regiment. Three Kingdoms RegimentThis trader also has a huge range of other minifigs on other themes in their store; - Star Wars, Castle, SWAT, etc etc Three Kingdoms Cavalry. Three Kingdoms Cavalry This is a different cavalry squad to the one I purchased. This trader also has a large range of minifigs. Edit: Three Kingdoms Cavalry: These are the same ones as I recently purchased...... Three Kingdoms Cavalry-2
Need bows, crossbows, quivers or a matchlock rifle 100 at at time? Weapons This trader also has helmets, swords, spears and other weapons to purchase 50-100 at a time.
If it wasn't for the Chinese clone manufacturers I couldn't afford to put together a decent sized army. My Elf army has a lot of genuine Lego Elves in it and that was expensive to put together as there weren't any suitable substitutes at the time; - not that I'm complaining as I've always been keen on Elves. I will buy some individual genuine Lego character minifigs from the LotR or Hobbit or collectable blind pack ranges, but mostly look to the Chinese to provide me with rank and file and bulk equipment.
Lego 'Warrior Woman'.
There is a small range of Hobbit and LotR minifigs though by Lele which I've found useful. LotR & Hobbit minifigs I've got Wizards and Hobbits with 'One rings' in quantity from this source, but then on the other hand they are useful minifigs to have and magic rings are always handy in any RPG. I just wish it was possible to get the Orcs and UnDead guys in bulk quantities (sigh)
The Lego community has created a wide range of decal artwork to convert ordinary minifigs into more exciting varieties which can help a lot when it comes to rounding out an army. As an example the Elf in the blue armor is a decal conversion and the Elf in green next to him is a genuine Lego Elf. I made his blue cloak from my own artwork by the way.
I did try doing some hand repaints, but I don't think they were as successful.

Cool ruins, - they turned out really great. They would lend themselves to so many scenarios.

The armor has a nice gunmetal look to it so I wouldn't say it was too shiny. I think the cloth parts are too dark though and need to be lighter. Funny, - I wondered if he'd been stabbed in the leg too

Epic! What a great setup and yes it would be a great scenario to play out. The new barracks terrain piece looks really good and makes a great centre piece.

Now there's a second $25.00 pledge and I can't decide which one I want. I think you should mention that the production minis won't have exposed white edges. I don't want to harp on about this, but the white edges were the first thing I noticed when I saw the test figures.

What I find amazing is that while the rain effect is printed on the terrain pieces the eye is tricked into believing the rain is actually falling on the model pieces themselves.

No paper modelling for Wilda at the moment as I'm a bit too drowsy and shaky to trust myself with sharp implements, - and besides my daughter is doing a major server migration and update which means that my scanner and printer aren't working. Sooooo it's back to messing about with Lego Some time ago I put together a very nice Elf army which did little except sit on a shelf and gather dust because they lacked for anyone to fight against. Eventually I scratched together a Bad Guys army made up of a mixed bag of Skeletons, three Orcs, a couple of witches, an Ogre and any minifigs I found that had a shady look about them. Not the best army really both in looks and ability and it's a wonder than my Elves could be bothered to go out and fight them at all. Most of my Elves. After I took this photo I discovered I'd left out a base of Elves armed with swords and some skirmishers. That's where things pretty much sat until I came across a huge job lot of the old Mega Bloks Dragons sets. After that I didn't lack for dragons, war machines and dark glowering type castles and fortifications with the added benefit that the Knights/Men at Arms from the sets made great Chaos Warriors. Lego Elves don't need much encouragement to go beat up the Forces of Chaos when they're all Mega Bloks minis My elderly Mum was having increasing problems with Dementia so the minifigs went back on the shelves and in their boxes while I was caring for Mum. Eventually though being a 24hr caregiver got too much for me as my own health wasn't the best and Mum was taken into care. Sad really as I always thought I'd be able to look after Mum until her dying day, but that's life I suppose. All my Lego (and I have a lot of it) stayed packed away while I re-discovered the joys of paper modelling again, but now it's being brought out into the light of day. Recently I discovered that one of the Chinese Lego clone manufacturers made a range of sets for the Chinese Three Kingdom period. And not long after that I discovered that it was possible to buy the minifigs from the sets separately so I placed an order...... I guess that for Mantic's Kings of War rules I'd play them as 'Kingdoms of Men' and for Warhammer they would be "Cathay' (of course) and for LotR they can be 'Easterlings'. All this for $US20.00 with free shipping, - of course I bought it. And five of these Three Kingdoms cavalry minis were a part of the order (Sorry I don't have a working camera at the moment). Needing some chaps to play as either WHFB Bretonnians or Mantic's Basileans I ordered a small number of these (for research purposes). Well today was a bit like early Christmas because it all arrived in the post The Medieval chaps in blue are going to be fine for the job and I will get some more next month when my pocket money budget recovers. Being by a different manufacturer to the Three Kingdoms guys they were already 90% assembled and I had no problems with them. But Oy! the Three Kingdoms guys were all in a million bits inside their plastic bags. It took me several goes at it before I figured out how the plastic sheet bronze mail for the cavalry guys went together and I managed to tear the first one (it was fixable though). Now I've got all five done I can see it's a clever method and once my scanner is working again I'll copy the template and have a go at making different kinds of plate mail armour. I need to create some shield artwork for them too as all the shields are blank plastic. I did not get all 26 of the foot soldier guys assembled, - I managed four before I flagged it away. Just too fiddly, but tomorrow's another day. To my complete surprise the foot soldier guys had parts for some kind of fire spitting war machine in their box. They weren't mentioned on the vendor's website, but I'm not complaining as this little army has suddenly become a much more formidable proposition. Over the next few days I'll quietly work towards getting my armies sorted out and then I'll put away the remains of the Lego town I was building that my cat devastated. Once I have a clean table top again it will be show time. I'm really looking forward to rolling some dice and being a little general again

Hey guys! I just found out about this amazing forum! I am Nick, a board game developer, working on the upcoming Nadir's Dawn fantasy skirmish game. I decided to use 2D cardboard miniatures as figures for flexibility, price and artwork! Welcome Nick, - you can't go wrong with paper minis and the price is definitely right
