I'm glad you've decided on keeping those pockets. Now you just need to find some nice textures and colors to go with them and time.

I'd keep the pockets too. They add nice detail to a simple figure, and you need some place to keep your ammo.

I like how these turned out a lot! It is so tiny looking I'm not sure the three piglets could live there.

Bryn: If you want to bring back a dead player you just attach a wing to their back to represent that they turned to angels? I don't know, just guessing Even if I have added enough wings to make a satisfactory download. The set of wings and the angels together make a whole, and you don't have to wonder where to use them, if you are into 2.5D this way . I apologize for the file size. And you are both welcome! Anita

I don't doubt you'll get better with them. I also don't doubt that some people like them as they are now. Simplicity isn't necessarily bad. And it is a good starting point to learn and develop from.
I'm not into military type stuff, for the same reason you've listed. Though this building is shinier than most military building.

Thanks for the comments boys! Today I've made the charger turtle RBG color. I have chaned the base color on his shell to blue. I think it looks better now, and at least CMYK have someone to race with Thanks for the nudge from Jabbro, Beau and Bryn who has found the turtle's color out of space. Just like me. Bryn I have kept the green on the skin, and the stripes on the shell. It looks better. I've finished pdf-ing the files, and it is on test print. It is going to be a free set, so you'll see the change is for the good. I'm lazy to get a photobucket load of it to show him just yet. I'm also surprised by the choice of your favorite Floyd: You do great recolors yourself so thank you for the compliment. And you wouldn't believe that a photo of a cantaloupe was used for giving a texture to the steel jaw turtle and grignak. Do it yourself tricks I've just noticed that the lighting is not that fixed on the skeletoise. Oh, well I'm not going to edit it. Anita

Xtea: shell. The 3D effect I thought was barely visible, I'm surprised someone noticed it. It is a hand made texture. Thanks for the vote. Is somebody bothered by the green of the charger turtle. Now when I look at it at night, I am not sure I like it The biggest work so far was the following turtle: Insane amount of spots. I like this one, and I'm sure that my opinion about it won't change by tomorrow! This was the last turtle, pdf-ing and test-printing follows. Anita

I think it is a good idea, and might be not hard to achieve if your modding only consist of how many storey building one wants to make. The interior design soulds a bit more complicated but Somebody might want to place paper figures in the inside of them... For what reasons I don't know, I like to keep figures in line of sight, and I imagine it would be hard to take out the playing paper minis from the inside of a house.

Hi everyone, Yesterday it was quite late and I've lost my senses or something. Funky turtle was bothering me, so I sat in front of it again to change how he looks. The result is here, please vote: Dave: Turtles are pretty fast if they want to be, unfortunately you can't make them go fast if they don't want to. But even if they run they cannot gain the speed you are putting out your building sets with ;D Floyd: I see what you mean with the skin, it looks too rough to me too. Hubby said when it is scaled down it will look smoother, and to give it more depth. I'll see it test printed, and follow the advice which suits the paper mini better (yours or jabbro's). I am glad you like the angels enough to print them ;-) and mithritoise. Anita

DjLittle, Xtea: Thank you for the comments! WaffleM: if I've made riders I'd have made the skeleturtle into a pack carrying animal, but Jabbro got outvoted. If I feel up to it I'll update the set with gnomes to ride it, but that is not in the near future. When I'm getting close to finish a set, I get sick of the theme. And need to do something else to not to burn out. I don't know how Jim pushes the townies set It is really quite amazing. Turtle for today: He is supposed to be magenta, blue, yellow Like on the color wheel. He is a bit funky looking, but I think he will make an okay paperfigure. Anita

Are you rather new to building designing, Jim? I seem to remember that you said you didn't really like to do that kind of model making. I might be wrong. Well, I cannot do 3D designs, so much respect for Dave. I hear he spends crazy amount of hours doing what he is doing, and his work shows. They look very good.

Sirrob: Grignek is bigger than the rest of these turtles. He is short but wide. That is a 40 mm base under it. I hope that is big enough, it would just save you from working on him. I had to look up the term "mother of pearl" how sad. Iridescent effect wasn't in my mind when I was making it, but nevertheless it is pretty. Thank you!

Steampunk for me also means ornate. So why not shape those metal plates under the big screws like a scroll, running along the lines of the vehicle where the edges meet?
Just My two cents,

I have printed it out to see if it keeps the shades. I think it does very good. Here is a photo of it (I haven't cropped it). s977.photobucket.com/albums/ae256/Anitangel/?action=view¤t=unicorn-preview.jpgI hope you are working at 300 dpi, and didn't forget about that. To make sure, click on image size in adobe, and you will see the resolution. If that is not 300 then set it to 300. It is tons easier to color when the figure is shrunk. I'd suggest scaling them down to mini scale first and then color. You say you are more comfortable coloring the big poster size, because you haven't tried it smaller. It is a lot faster that way. And coloring wouldn't be a chore. Also here is a base, because your figure needed a bigger one than 40 mm. It is 48 mm: s977.photobucket.com/albums/ae256/Anitangel/?action=view¤t=basecopy.pngDon't worry so much about the outline, when you have it scanned it in grayscale just up the contrast, pull the bars on the levels and you get it black again. When it is shrunk the little mistakes disappear. Anita

Very pretty. I like the "fur" I think you have done a good job. As for the black base. Shrink it down proportionally to a human (I've sent you a piece to compare it to) that is about a head taller than the human. After you have gotten that, just see which base I gave you fits under them. It's probably going to be more than 23, maybe even 40 mm base.
Good luck,
Anita

Thanks sis! Magpiestear: An other eager daughter to play with turtles? The complete set is coming up. I find it easier to color these guys so it should be fairly fast I just get distracted. Beau: It's the color wheel's job to decide what colors to use. I would have never dared to use purple with oranges. Especially because I for myself don't like the color combination. I've just tried my hand at it. Give everything a chance. I'm surprised that it didn't fail Jabbro: You know you were the one pestering me about contrasts. I had a good teacher ;-) And I like your soft brushing! No need to wonder about the way I color, because on clothes for example your technique looks tons better. I cannot make soft brushing look decent. Jim: Oh, I haven't read this advice from you with the darker further legs anywhere else before. Or I missed it, or forgot about it? I was used to more subtle shading too, it is hard to get yourself doing high-contrast when it is blown up. But it really pays off on paper. Thanks for the tip! And the last turtle for today is not that daring, the color wheel wouldn't be happy with it: Hope you all like it! Anita

Jim: When I'm brightening the picture doesn't the outline gets grayish? Or does that disappear when you up the contrast. Jabbro does the same as you suggest come to think of it. I have lightened up the turtle after all. Thanks for the reply. Xtea: You are being too nice. Next turtle has some strong colors, careful it may hurt your eyes: Anita
