Here's my take on the James Bond style SuperCar. Up now for down load. inkjetpaperscissors.blogspot.ca/2012/05/supercar.htmlHope you like, GM. @kiladeus Thanks for the props. Yeah, the idea was to make them as easy and quick to build as possible, but not look like it. Hope I succeeded. I can draft OK, and draw a bit, and render...but I've got butterfingers when it comes to anything with knives, scissors or glue. So if I'm gonna make them, they better be easy. (I'm in awe of some of the Japanese papercraft out there....how do they work with such little tiny, fussy bits....? Definitely not in my skill set.) And the Hulk was a one-off, scanned and photoshopped out of a comic-book. I have the comic book, but I don't think I even have the file anymore. His backside is a quick 3rd grade colouring job with black, green and purple markers. What one must do when the need arises....

A trash truck might be possible... I was goofing around on sketchup for a couple of hours last night and came up with this: Thank Parduz for a good idea: a modular system for building trucks with a front end, a cab, a rear wheel section and a simple frame/extender. All put together like fairly simple boxes, then assembled. Add your custom "work bits" onto the frame, and you could have a tractor trailer, a school bus, a garbage truck, a flatbed..... I could do the same kind of thing with my existing van cab as well. Sorry to tease you with this, but don't expect them any time real soon though. I don't think I'm gonna have quite as much time for a little while...but I'll see what I can do.... GM

I only did two under chasis...and only as something as a space filler to start, but they looked OK, so they're all just a resize of the original for all the cars.
And yeah, I was thinking the idea to use the "Cab" for a cube van or camper would work.
Of course, 30 hours of "playtime" a day would be great for all the good ideas, no?

Parduz: Mostly in vector....I've got an old copy of Corel-Draw. Initially I used sketchup to get the 3d shapes, exported them to Inkscape then to Corel but once I figured out the basic shapes I don`t use sketch now. I used Corel to draft up most of the lines and details, and to make a gradient fill layer of light grey for the shading. Then I exported the grey layer to GIMP, did the colour versions, then imported the colours back into Corel-Draw in a layer under the details. Then exported a final JPG. Vector is so much easier for line work, typeface graphics and drafting. And simple gradients are much more forgiving in vector programs. But try drawing sailcloth or wood in vector....that's when you really need GIMP or Photoshop. GM.

The compacts. Just a little bigger than the subcompacts and with 4 doors. 5 doors...they're hatchbacks (the green one in front is the subcompact). Maybe they're electric...? Here's the link: inkjetpaperscissors.blogspot.ca/2012/05/compact-car.htmlHope you like, GM. PS: probably gonna do a schoolbus, hadn't thought about a tow truck...

Two kinds of SUVs. A Crossover and a really big one. Up now at my blog (InkjetPaperScissors.blogspot.ca) inkjetpaperscissors.blogspot.ca/2012/05/suvs-both-kinds.htmlIn lots of pretty colours. Getting through the car set now...a few more to go. Starting to think about Laketown and vikings again.... GM. PS. An ambulance and an ice cream truck do sound like a good idea. And maybe a Souvlaki truck as well......hmmmmmmmm.... Anyone like Shawarma....?

Not entirely on topic, but since I don't do figs very often I thought I'd share the Wookie for the May hoard: I'm really proud...he started off as a Paint time-waster doodle, but I thought he looked so good (for my doodling) that I had to finish him off. He's 300 dpi, so I hope the scale is OK (if not, feel free to adjust him to 30mm for the hoard) GM

Chipwagon is now ready for download: inkjetpaperscissors.blogspot.ca/2012/05/chipwagon-mod.htmlI had a few bugs to fix, so if you got it from my blog yesterday this new one has fixed the upside-down condiments and the spikey lettering effect. And thank's to Okum for putting up such awesome figs. I think I'm gonna do up the Gilligan's Island figs for my next photoshoot... GM

Thanks guys. I've got a few more cars almost ready to go. Minivan, Pickup, Compact, Crossover, Big SUV and maybe a couple of sportscars (Mustang and Rx9-ish). I'd like to do a Schoolbus and maybe a City Bus to match the style. I'd also like to finish some viking boats and put some stuff up for my Laketown/Viking village project. Or, I could stop pi$$ing off my wife and do some real work.... Nah..... GM. PS> Here's the Wookie:

The fig's are Okumarts and DarkMook's, except the Wookie. that one's mine. Here's the blog post with links: inkjetpaperscissors.blogspot.ca/2012/05/sucompacts.htmlHope you like, GM PS: this is next:

The vans are now up on my websight. Both the regular Ford-like utility van and the more modern looking version of the delivery truck (loosely based on an Isuzu commmercial van). Build is pretty much the same as the sedans. Here's the link to the blog post, download from there. inkjetpaperscissors.blogspot.ca/2012/05/commercial-vans.htmlHope you like, GM. (I'll post the link on the initial post as well) And as for the pizza car topper....maybe there'll be one with the compact car....?

They do curve in a fair bit at the top. The bottom is about a quarter inch wider than the roof...which is about right, given the scale.
I'm not sure why that doesn't show up so well in the pics....?

I noticed there's lots of cardstock cars around, but they're all different styles and scales and build complexities. I wanted a set of "regular" cars with a bit of variety, fairly easy build and that looked like they belonged together. So these models are the start of a larger plan to create a whole parking lot of various 25-30mm-ish (60th scale) cars. At least one version of most of the North American car classes...full size, compact, sub-compact, crossover...etc....in a few "common" colours for each. And yeah, they have bottoms, so a bit of mayhem will still look good. (Figs are Dark Mook's, BTW...except Hulk....) So the sedan is first up, with a cop car and a taxi. (the two utility vans are up next....) I started a blog to put my stuff up, so all the downloads are over there.....(along with some of my other stuff) inkjetpaperscissors.blogspot.ca/2012/05/big-cars.html(scroll down a bit for the download links) Eventually I plan on putting all my stuff up on the blog. Yeah, I figured out that the open box structure doesn't really hold up well anyway, so there has to be a little more "structure" under the floor. That made me redesign the whole thing. Its a little more complicated build, but it makes for a pretty strong box....and it makes the crossbeams look better and have a little more function. So I have most of the "dock" parts designed, now to texture them (should go quick as I can use most of what I've already done). I'll put up a build pic when I can.

Yeah, its suppose to be crossed beams. I'm trying to make it simple and easy to put together...plus it need some solid support at least an inch or so down from the top or it won't hold up very well. The idea was to have the space filled in at least fairly realistically. Open beams there would be a heck of a lot more work....especially considering you'd be making quite a few of them....
Got any other ideas that might work....? Maybe a single angled beam with a dark background....?

Here's a few photos of some paper tests. LT_test01LT_test02 LT_test03Working out the fitting and starting to texture. The big ship (a knarr) still has a bit of work to go. I printed out a colour version just because I don't trust my monitor vs my printer. Hope to put some of the finished set up soon. GM64 (the figs are Dryw's and 1Monk's (thanks)....not exactly how I picture the men of Laketown...maybe they'll come later)

Here's the shot of PJ on the Laketown set from The Hobbit. There's no other images out there yet, but from the details it looks pretty vikingish.... Anyway, my plan is for something like that. And something like this... From the wikipedia Esgaroth page..... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EsgarothWorking on it..... GM64

Some small boats to start. 3 versions of the faering, a small viking style boat. (Peter Jackson copied this style for the Elven canoes in LOTR) They're all just slightly bigger than 1" wide in the bottom of the hull, so they'll fit a 1" based figure. I've done a couple of tests...they go together OK....I'll put up some pics in a bit. Hope you like, GM64

OK, I think I fixed that. You should be able to look at a bigger version on Flickr now. Shawn Edit: this place is one of the biggest influences...structurally anyway: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pfahlbau_Museum_Unteruhldingenonly a little more like these: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StavkirkeI saw a clip of Peter Jackson talking "The Hobbit" and he was on the Laketown set. Unfortunately they managed to show practically nothing of the set except a few walls and doorways....but from what you could see it was obvious they were emulating the Stavkirke style.
