Awfully quiet. I had an idea for a tileset, but as I was in Germany on holiday for 2 weeks, I didn't have the time.

Old school D&D (boxed sets) and AD&D, Marvel Superheroes, DC Heroes, and a bit of MERP. I also play Pike & Shotte, but I use lead/plastic for those. And Heroclix, but that's a different story. (I use the Heroclix-minis for the superhero RPG games too).

Which begs the question -- what is your favorite Verne novel? Journey to the Center of the Earth, no doubt about it! (Although I always liked Five Weeks In A Balloon).

A sad day. There a few places on the web with the same dedication to the hobby as PaperMau.

becouse i do the miniatures very big in piantnet and then i resize them in microsoft publisher ..... O.O My friend, you should really consider getting Gimp. It would make life so much easier for you. Gimp is free and open source, and is the preferred tool by the majority of artist in here, even more so than Photoshop.

Shouldn't there be natives, shamen (shamans?), and ye old missionary in a pot? And a guerilla base, packed with rebels preparing to overthrow the current Generalissimo in power.

That's just for inspiration. I CAN dig deeper, though, the 80's were a true wonderland... The 70s weren't bad, either.

Sure, it does that for me, too. But, after trying a few more, I found that only some of the pdfs are accessible, some of them gives me the above message. I use Chrome (in this case, at home I use Firefox), but it is not a browser generated thing - the given message is from Yamaha's website, from the address global.yamaha-motor.com/showroom/papercraft/ . So, all I'm saying is, that not all the PDFs are still working.

For real though, its a good idea. Shake things up a bit and knock the dust off. I really like Vermin Kings idea. Something like: Tissue paper Initiate Paper private Cardstock corporal Cover stock Sgt Label Lt Cardboard Captain Matteboard Major Foamcore Colonel Gluestick General Etc.. I like the idea very much! And no, I don't think there's a link between title and skill any more than the old system had a link between your title, and how religious you are.

Look here, guys! I found this great online tool for creating seamless textures out of photos with just a few clicks! I tested it on a few wall photos a handful of times, and it works great so far. Saves a load of work!

I haven't determined which company I want to entrust to doing the work, yet. They charge as much as a new cheap computer, so I only want to do it once. Do you still have the old hard-drive? When my old machine melted down (literally) I was able to mount the old-hard drive and purchased a disk doctor program for $60. It went through the hard-drive and dumped everything to an external drive, without any names on the files though. Then I sorted by kind and looked at previews of the files to figure out what they were and re-name them. I looked at professional recovery first and it struck me as extremely expensive, what I did mainly just took time. My external HD spontaneously converted all files to RAW 2 months ago. I managed to recover about 95% of the data, but the last 5% was damaged, and incidently, my texture archive was particularly affected.

I've been at vacation, so I didn't have a chance to contribute this year. But man, am I impressed or am I impressed? The overall quality is really high this year! It was hard to cast my votes, but I managed to pick some favourites. Good luck to each and very one of the contributors! And... with contributions like this, who cares if the voters are year long actives or just lurkers who signed up yesterday? The general purpose of this showcase is, as I understand it, to get more people to participate and contribute, and create more free papertreasures for the community. And I'd say that goal has been achieved.

I really thought that WinRar's still a common tool... apparently, I misjudged that, apparently. I use the 64 bit version of this: www.rarlab.com/download.htmThere's a 32 bit version too, for the less advanced part of the terran population (just kidding).

Honourable members of Cardboard Warriors, lurkers, bystanders, NPCs, ladies and gentlemen... As my contribution to Papercuts 2018, I give you... Cobbles'n'Pebbles!
7 layered PDF's, two types of road, two types of grass and a 1.5" grid, which equals 52 layouts, for your convenience. (Note: Heavy download - 449 MB)
Alas, I can't get my printer to behave as it should, it's simply been left unused for too long, and I won't be able to fix it before the deadline - so you will have to do with the above picture for now. I hope that the tiles can speak for themselves, and that you like them!

Yup, happens to me too. I think it's unavoidable, but being disciplined helps minimizing the risk of accidents. But year, accidents do happen. Sometimes you forget to save, sometimes you realize that there was something you didn't take into account when you planned the work. I guess it's part of the hobby.

It's a good idea to plan a workflow, when you plan your project. I always do that, and try to plan the sequence of things, including when to save versions of my work, be it PSD, PNG or whatever format that fits the purpose best. I typically use up to 5 different softwares, depending on what project I'm working on, (Photoshop, Illustrator, Bender, Fotosketcher or cartoon.pho.to, and Acrobat), and the format I want to save in usually depends on what I have to do next. That automatically gives me a pile of files from different stages of my WIP, and makes it easy to go back to the previous stage, if a mistake is made. I also recommend organizing your savings with a good (and accurately named) folder structure.
